i'd say kessler. i think he has better footwork, a better jab, better speed, defense, and coordination. pavlik might have a better arsenal of punches though, but i'm not sure.

Kessler in every way. Pavliks best weapon the jab, Kessler does better. Kessler is faster, smarter, more technically sound, better D, stronger. I could go on really.

Yeah he could - otherwise he would win a onesided fight. Pavlik is still young, and I am sure he will learn alot from his loss to Hopkins. There are so many flaws he needs to iron out.

I voted Pavlik on the basis that there is no "neither" option. Neither of them are "complete" in any sense, and on recent showings neither of them are ever likely to be.

You're saying that Kessler has better defense? Neither guy is especially great in that area, but Pavlik is adept at picking off punches, parrying/blocking, and raising the guard. Kessler on the other hand keeps his hands at the middle of his chest, and his idea of defense seems to be lurching straight back a few inches and raising up his gloves slightly. Kessler's defense is abysmal.

Yeah this is definately an underrated aspect of Pavlik's game. He really does keep those darn gloves up - I would argue his defensive positioning is better as well (he moves in-and-out, though it's not flashy).

Kessler's defence and overall ring smarts is unimpressive. In the last 3 fights I've seen him in he seemed to be so open to being hit it was unbelievable for such an elite fighter. Hands low, very slow to adjust etc.

However his reach advantage and naturally athletic body compensates somewhat, as he's able to keep the distance when facing an inferior foe who is shorter/smaller reach. He couldn't against Joe C (especially in the 2nd half of the fight)... and he was totally dumbstruck by it.

Overall I think Kelly is better at adjusting to a fighter mid-fight than Kessler.

Kessler has more fluid foot movement, and possesses an excellent uppercut. Decent jab - not as great as all the commentators have said - but Kelly's is much better. Pavlik also has a much straighter punch - clean, sharp and effective.

Pavlik far better at stalking his opponent.

I think Pavlik is AWFUL at parrying. He has a good guard, but i haven't seen him alter his guard to deaden the impact of a shot consistantly in ANY fight. Seriously.

Which is why it says 'who is the more complete fighter'. Coronacards, and prideofvbeach, you have also been named and shamed for picking Pavlik.

Kessler is by far the more complete fighter. He's pretty upright, but a very good boxer if a little one-dimensional at times, but nowhere near as one-dimensional and predictable as Pavlik.

Kessler has the far superior jab, understand of range, rhythm and timing. Technically much more sound, very textbook. Better footwork, more ring craft.

Pavlik has height, decent handspeed, range and accumilative power. That's it. His jab is pretty basic, as is everything else.

Poor, but he gets away with it. I'd bet my house on Kessler beating Pavlik.

I'm not so sure. He landed some outstanding uppercuts on Calzaghe.
