Comparing the Skills of Kessler to Pavlik would be like Comparing Manchester United to Galatasary. Kessler far and above

Example of a Pavlik sequence taken at random against Edison Miranda:

Throws jab, slips incoming right hand from Miranda, throws right hook to the body, throws left hook to the body, blocks jab from Miranda, reset.

Example of Kessler sequence taken at random against Danilo Haussler:

Throws lead right, throws lead right, throws jab, jumps back as Haussler throws jab, throws lead left hook, throws jab, throws jab, jumps back as Haussler throws jab, throws lead right, throws jab, ect.

I encourage anyone curious to watch tape of each fighter back to back.

Interesting statement after the Hopkins fight. I think it was pretty clear that Pavlik has terrible footwork and most definitely can't throw anything unless he has a significant amount of time to plant his feet. Pavlik definitely has a better guard but it isn't Winky-like and he has no head movement whatsoever, nor does he roll with punches at all so he is easy to hit and hit flush. Kessler's guard is terrible and theres no reason for his guard to be that open at his level, but he (as you say) is more athletic overall and that alllows him to react quicker and he at least attempts to roll or move away from punches, whereas Pavlik stands there with a stiff neck and eats them flush on the button if they get through the guard.

Natural advantages aside, like handspeed, footspeed and just overall agility and athleticism aside (which play an absolutely massive part in a fighter), Pavlik might be more complete, but its a pretty moot point.

I'd rather not talk about it. It's embarassing.

I've removed Hopkins from the equation entirely, of course. If Pavlik is fighting Hopkins again I'll factor some of this in, otherwise it's completely immaterial. Nobody can do what Hopkins does except for Bernard Hopkins. Just because Bernard can cause all these problems, doesn't mean someone else can do it. Pavlik doesn't do alot of the things you're describing in other fights.

Besides, we're comparing Pavlik to Mikkel Kessler of all people. Have a look at the tapes. Pavlik looks DYNAMIC compared to this guy. Watch footage of both of them back to back. I was surprised myself. And I do agree with you guys on this - it's definately a moot point.
