    For me, Sam Langford. He moved up division after division and beat guys bigger than him. He was so fearsome that even Jack Dempsey was scared of him. And despite all of that, he never got a belt.

    Langford absolutely has to be up there, he was almost universally spoken about in reverent tones by his peers and historians, everyone seemed to be in awe of him.

    I always thought Langford was five foot eight, but I just googled and the top result was five six and a half! Do any of you old time experts know how tall Sam actually was? If it's five six and a half, that just makes this thread even more incredible!

    Modern era ish for me it would be Roberto Duran. That beating he put on Davey Moore chills me to the bone to this day as it was so obviously calculated.
