Barrera would beat the **** out of the best version of Gainer. He'd also have an easier time with John and Norwood than what JMM did imo.

Junior Jones was also a more talented fighter than either John or Norwood imo, and if he didn't have a questionable chin, I think he would have outpointed JMM handily (assuming they were in the same weight class).

Powerpuncher does make a good point about Barrera's lack of a good right hand to throw down the middle against mobile and athletic southpaws though...

For what it's worth, I think JMM would have had a bigger struggle with Naz than what Barrera did, and probably would have had close fights with Morales like MAB did.

The thing is MAB never faced defensive stylists so saying he'd outright beat them. Saying he'd beat them takes a bit of conjecture when we consider Jones/Pac handled him on the outside without presenting much in the way of lateral movement or negativity. Kelley was a southpaw counter puncher but shot

Jones was talented but he maybe brawled too much for his own good. I'm not convinced he was more talented than Norwood but their different in style. I'm not sure what happened to Jones chin it looked solid against MAB but crumbled against Mkkinney and Morales. Either way Norwood wasn't there to be hit like Jones, he picked his battles wisely

Would JMM have had a harder time against Hamed? Well JMM has been a master of handling southpaws and has the better right hand to deal with the southy angle. But as a Hamed fan I don't like picking against him, despite his flaws :D

For what it's worth Arum didn't want to risk Morales against JMM despite managing them both, I'd agree that 1 would be close, but think JMM's speed and smarts edge it

I think you're being ridiculously kind to JMM on the Gainer fight analysis and you're doing so in order to create a case which I personally deem to be weak. I stick by my post 100%, Barrera is more complete than JMM who seems one dimensional in comparison.

And talking about who would beat who is voic in my opinion, as I highlighted clearly in my initial post, this is not about effectiveness or who is the better fighter, this is a technical analysis of who is the more complete fighter, and there is one answer for me.

this thread has really went off on a tangent with all the talk of who would beat who

it maybe warrants a small corner of the debating table on this one, but it's taken over the thread unnecessarily
