This has to be the biggest misconception by ignorant fans. Andrade was half way across the ring, so the count was stopped. That's how it is in the rules, that's how it was carried out.

 

Many Mexicans believe Joe Cortez is the most corrupt.

 

Marnoff, you are the "ignorant fan". As i read this post I was actually surprised at how long it took before somebody mentioned this ref: Marlon B. Wright. I am a die-hard boxing fan and I watched that entire fight. The ref refused to warn Bute for excessive holding for starters, and when he did he was nearly apologetic. Meanwhile, he is berating Andrade for any and every little ticky tack "foul" you could imagine. During the infamous count this ref, for no apparent reason, decides to stop his count and turn and yell at Andrade for at least 5 seconds. It totally tainted the outcome of what was one hell of a fight. I wish they had a better camera angle for that count, because no way could the ref even have SEEN Andrade when he randomnly decided to stop the count. That negro bet on Bute, period. GO MOSLEY!!

I don't know about the last 30 years, but in the last 10 or so, I know everybody loves to bomb on Steele, and Cortez (lately, seems not long ago he was quite respectable).

But, IMO, the icing for the **** cake is that Lawrence Cole. I don't know if he's even still allowed to ref, but I thought I'd read recently he'd ref'd something down in Mexico.

 

Read the rules. Andrade had come about half way across the ring, and the referee was correct in stopping the count until he went back to the neutral corner he was told to be in. These are facts. Learn them, thanks.

He was also bad for the choi/matthews fight.

That fight should of been stopped 1 or 2 earlier but Parris was doing whatever he can to give Matthews as much time to recover.

 

Eddie Cotton also was terrible in one of Malignaggi's fights last year, I can't exactly remember if it was Cherry or N'dou, but either way, you'd never in your life heard : "Brake, brake, STOP, brake, BRAKE, stop, STOP...." so many times in your life. It was similiar to the case Hatton fans made against Cortez, because getting inside was this fighters only chance.
