Mikkel Kessler is overhyped IMO...He's a damn good fighter but he seems to get a tad bit overrated.

Arreola, Valero, and Jermaine Taylor. I dont think Hatton is that overrated because most people recognize that he wins most of his fights by brawling and not boxing skill, yet he still wins and he is 45-1 and has beaten some good opponents.

Many of guys have a serious comprehension problem. Never once did I ever make this argument. The only reason I even brought up the Mayweather fight is because another poster claimed Dawson was overrated due to a close win over Johnson. If that's the standard for being overrated, then what's Hatton considering he had a close win over Collazo and was dominated by Mayweather?

Well then how the hell is Valero overrated? The guy is still basically an unknown despite his 100% knockout ratio and despite him being a 2 division champ. Valero gets hardly any hype.

Povetkin. He's a good boxer but his best wins as a pro are a washed-up Chris Byrd and a fat cruiserweight (Chambers). Sure, he has a good amateur pedigree, but so did Julio Gonzalez and look what happened to him. The jury is still out on whether Povetkin has the stuff to hang out amongst the top 5 of a division.

Haye, on the other hand, beat some of the best in the cruiserweight division. I don't think you can become The Man in a division and be overhyped, especially when most people (on here, at least) think you're going to be KO'd by Wlad's jab.

Hatton doesn't have much hype behind him and he's earnt what hype he does have. Everyone knows, at this stage, what's he's capable of and what he isn't capable of.

Then again, these threads are just for people to insult boxers they don't like...

    KIRKLAND DEF MOST OVERRATED:deal

    NO SKILL
    NO SPEED
    NO BRAINS
    FIGHTS LIKE A CAVEMAN

He's tough with a decent chin but soon as he faces a half decent
154/160 fighter he will get Shut Out 12-0

    Needs to go to MMA/WWE:hi:

But how is he overrated? He doesn't get a lot of pub, many picked him to lose to Julio, and not many are giving him a shot against Dzinziruk.

:bart...while the refing was questionable it had no impact to me though simply because Hatton got KO'ed...now you may say the ref forced Hatton to get wreckless but thats not the case again if you watch the fight again or even some Youtube highlights you will see floyd was already baiting Ricky in and hit regularly with that check hook way earlier than the KO came.....Hatton was already early in the fight leaving himself open for shots while lunging for his shots.

No, not unless there's a new definition of hype that I haven't been told of yet.

Chad Dawson and JuanMa Lopez are the two MOST overhyped boxers on ESB forums.

Dawson = Leaky defence, shaky chin, zero adaptability, zero ring intelligence. Put on his ass plenty of times, nearly KO'd by Glen Johnson.

Someone with his lack of adaptability wouldnt be able to deal with a Hopkins or a Calzaghe or anyone with a multi-faceted approach, christ, 1-D Glen Johnson took enough rounds off him.

Yet I see time and time again on these forums, TOP 5 P4P, FUTURE ATG, Would KO Calzaghe and Hopkins on the same night, The next Roy Jones !

    Total unwarranted hype.

And dont get me started about Lopez. I actually see people putting him in their top10 lists on a daily basis. The most recent person saying that he would and I quote "destroy Vasquez and Marquez".

Please, if those 2 warriors have anything left at all after their ATG battle's they'll get rid of this hype job before retiring to the HOF.

    Pure, baseless, hype.

Is that a good enough definition ?
