I am sorry to hear that. He was such a positive, upbeat guy. RIP!

Yeah, I can't see how he is more overrated than for example Tyson, who's also seen by many casuals and even some on this board as the best ever. Floy'd resume is miles ahead of Tyson's.

When Loma was hailed by some as the best of all time after impressing against the likes of Walters was probably the high mark of overrated, though.

Foreman and Frazier were better than any fighters Floyd beat including Manny at welter because despite being a legend at that weight his size and reach posed problems for him at times.

Ali lost to prime Frazier and Foreman wasn’t comfortable doing 12 rounds. Categorically worse than Pac.

Manny just couldn`t get ppast that long jab, Floyd never had to deal with Frazier`s constant pressure and hooks.

I meant pressing the action more than being pressure fighters, Hagler and SRL would get in exchanges in deep water and not let up they would pretty much bang for the entire round, whereas now you have guys getting in brief exchanges then stopping and backing up/creating space and pacing, there was a clip of Lomachenko I saw where he landed a combo where that happened and the other guy nodded like acknowledging "nice combo bro", if it was Robinson getting off a combo the guy would have been knocked out, and Duran or Hagler would have stayed on them like flies on sh*t to finish them

Mayweather n Tyson r comparable to me. Best wins against B level n past prime A level fighters tbh. Mayweather has longevity over Mike but after JWW he leaves much to b desired given how arrogant he is.

Loma hype was ridiculous but he is very talented I can't take that away just not enough solid wins imho.

Nope, Ali fought and beat Frazier and Foreman at their best. Holmes fought Spinks and Tyson at their best. Tyson fought Holyfield 2x at his best. They took risks against elite level fighters at their best, win or loose. Floyd never did that.

Mayweather's best wins at 130 and 135 is clearly better than anything on Tyson's ledger imo. And while Oscar was a bit past his best I still can't think of any Tyson win of that quality, especially considering the size difference. Same with Canelo. And Pac was the nr. 2 p4p, would have been nr. 1 if not for Floyd himself.

What Tyson wins come even close to those ones? And apart from that he had consistency and longevity and going through multiple weight classes and being the smaller man in most of his fight. There's a big difference between them.

Yes, Loma looks, and is, very talented, but the same goes for all these guys. Fact is that the insane hype around him was built up largely on Walters and the smaller and 37-year old Rigo. He looked amazing in those two, yes, but it was two fights and not against ATGs by any stretch.

Welp, you could say Ali never beat Frazier in his prime and is 0-1 against him in his prime. Foreman wasn’t truly elite because he was a newcomer who wouldn’t win a 12 round decision until the mid 90s (LOL at him being more prime or elite in Zaire than Canelo ).

Tyson went 0-2 against a past prime Holyfield.

Chico, however, was prime, undefeated and top 5 pfp when he fought Floyd.

I also find it interesting how giving up age and size seemingly do not count if you’re Mayweather.

    Try again.
