His three biggest wins have none of these involved. Foreman, Liston I & Frazier III are all non-controversial. There's one case of match fixing, and no-one thinks Ali was going to lose that one. Just that no one thinks he would win in one round. Shavers, Norton III & Young are his controversial decision wins, and I wouldn't call those his major league wins. In fact, I don't think any would make his top five. And 'dirty play', isn't Ali's fault, it's teh referees.
Hand speed is necessary for power punches, but if a fighter has slowed down his opponent enough so he has extra time to set his feet into the canvas and twist his torso properly he can add to a punch's power.
Don’t agree with this at all. Even if one or two were dubious (not by his doing) or bad decisions it doesn’t make up for the Other 30 amazing victories
Ali is certainly overrated by the general sports fan. A Boxing fan can have him #1 in heavyweight history without any real dispute. When it goes past there and he is #1 on the P4P lists. That would be overrating him IMO
His personality gets in the way. For alot of fans the emotional part is impossible to remove. They see things that aren't there. Granted most of those situations were the last part of his career. I cant think of anyone who has that many close wins and in some cases he was the beneficiary of a Arned Robbery.
It`s not the toughest division, a lot of heavyweights lack the skill of some of the lighter weights, Ali would have struggled in the late 70`s at a lower weight because he wasn`t training that much, lighter weight champs tend to be in better conditon than many heavyweights cause they have to be, you would never got someone as plodding as an older Foreman being champ at a lighter weight, b-hop was far harder to hit than Foreman when he won a title for the final time.
It’s the toughest division because one shot can mean lights out. Even from a Fighter with little skill if they pack a punch they can go places and a majority at the top (even the worst) can hurt you. But I get ur point otherwise
