I think the resume thing is not a good drawing point though, Ruiz (before Joshua 1) resume wasn't great, I'd say Luis Ortiz's resume was actually better. Yet he KO'd the unified champion. Resume doesn't equal skill, Ortiz's resume isn't great but he sure knows how to fight and would beat a few top 10's. I'm sure there's plenty of legends in the sport with less then stellar resume's but their skills speak for themselves eg Vitali
Far more goes into assessing a fighter than looking at his resume. We are talking about hype, not credit. Hype is talking about who you think a guy WOULD beat, not who they've beaten before. Example, I think Wilder WOULD knockout Anthony Joshua. I think that because I feel like I've been watching fighters long enough to make an educated guess and I'm confident in my reasoning. Anthony Joshua does have a better resume than Wilder and his oppenents have more name value. That I am aware of. Do I think the versions of Klitchko, povetkin, Whyte and Parker that Anthony Joshua fought would have beaten Wilder? No, I think Wilder would have knocked them all out.
Usyk. The man is highly skilled, but very unproven at heavyweight. He is on some peoples top 10. I think he will do very well at heavy, but needs to show me what he can do against the big boys.
Wilder - only beaten on HW in the boxrec or Ring magazine top 10 amd thats the one with the weakest resume in Ortiz who has one notable win against Jennings nearly five years ago. Ortiz is the second most overrated HW.
I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for this but whatever. Dusty Nichols is far and away the most overrated HW on here. People act like he's some kind of killer and one of the biggest underachievers in history because he dropped a pre-prime Bootleg Dorticos when he (Dusty) hadn't trained a lick for the fight and believe it or not wasn't even in shape. Even if Dusty had dropped a prime Bootleg Dorticos it wouldn't be anything to write home about because the later is a big uncoordinated flailing useless dosser who can't fight or box for toffee and he has one of the most embarrassingly hideous resumes I've ever seen.
Was going to pick Wilder but just had to give it to Usyk For a guy to be hyped before he has even competed im a divisiom is insane “Oh but he is a cruiser weight! Auto demigod status” Aydamn: Err not quite mate lo and behold.... Hunter goes life and death with Povetkin A younger fresher Hunter fully prepped against and old faded man who is 40 come on G... be real Usyk aint beating the likes of Joshua Reality check incoming!!!
The amount of Traction Usyk is getting is baffling. 1 fight at Heavyweight and he's a soon to be legend ? I'm not blind to his skills and talent but surely none of us has seen sufficient evidence to back up the predictions that he's a shoo in to beat AJ or Wilder.
