I think you're correct to a certain extent. However, if things had have turned out differently for Tyson, he'd have been the most famous sportperson ever.

People seem to forget how the media was extremely fascinated with Tyson, especially when he was champion. It's one thing being popular in your own country, but I remember when Tyson went to Tokyo, Japan to fight Tubbs. He couldn't believe the media was so compelled with his every move. Mike admitted to being a little apprehensive with the situation at the time.

    Easily Ali.

Only one who comes close is Tyson.

The only reason Tyson is even being considered is because he RECENTLY dominated the sport in terms of popularity. Whenever the young kids weren't introduced because of either Ali or Tyson is when it will be very very clear that Ali outlasts him.

Lol, don't insult Ali because he didn't want to fight in Vietnam. Your boy was a convicted ****** and he BIT in the ring. Honestly...

If you mean US then DLH is up there, on a global scale he is nowhere close. He is practically unknown outside US & Mexico/puerto rico.

Boxing is a much more globalised sport than Basketball. To people around the world, Tyson or Ali was the baddest man on the planet at the time...Jordan to someone in England was just a great basketball player in America.

As for the thread, just look at how many movies have been made about Ali...how many about Tyson? Tyson is huge...but if Tyson is an entertainment superstar, Ali is almost some sort of myth and legend figure.

It's nothing to do with money. Ali transcended the sport. He's an icon. He won sportsman of the century.

Tyson was massive. But even he is a distant second to Ali.

Ali by a mile! Supprised Rocky Marciano and Duran did not get much of a mention?

Well Ali made 10mil for 1 fight in 1974. That was unprecedented. Also fighters since PPV would naturally make more anyways.

Ali #1 definitely. But in terms of putting bums on seats, i'd say Tyson fights sold out quicker.

Ali met some of the the hardest punchers in boxing history: Liston, Foreman, Shavers - Ali was also the one bravest men to climb through the ropes ever, and he had an iron chin, besides he was never knocked out! Don“t make a fool out of yourself by posting such crap!
