    Ali no doubt

"Who is the 2nd most popular boxer in history" is the more appropriate thread title

Cannot argue with "popular" in history ,but that is for those outside the sport...those who were popular in their era and contributed to the sport

    Duran
    Hagler
    Joe Louis
    Rocky Marciano
    Mike Tyson
    Leonard

How could you not have Ali on the list?

    And to have Ruiz?

Maybe i didnt understand the question.

Ali is definatly the most popular. Every casual boxing fan, and basically every person knows who Ali. Same with Tyson. I'd say you'd find it tougher to get people who don't follow boxing to know much about De La Hoya and Pacman.

Here's a little tid bit that I found interesting a few years back.

I wen't back to the Philippines visited some relatives. I asked one of my 12 year old cousins about Ali and mind you the movie just came out. He was like "Who's that?" and I was like "Oh never mind, he was just a famous boxer". Then he said "Oh....we'll I know Mike Tyson, he is very good".

So on this basis, I believe that Tyson will and always be the most popular boxer in history.
