Who was it again? Ellis I think.

Floyd had just hit him with a body shot and straight after, Floyd rubbed the just targeted area as if to say “Sorry ‘bout that chief!”

Zora Folley hit Ringo just prior to or on the bell with a beautiful right hand - Oscar was going down for all money but Folley deliberately held him up to prevent his fall.

An act of benevolence rarely see in the boxing ring, save for the aforementioned Patterson of course and a few others.

Joe Frazier was a really nice guy for mine.

Could’ve poleaxed Bugner while he was temporarily suspended in mid air - but Joe spared him. Ungrateful Bugner then wobbled Joe badly shortly thereafter. :D

Joe Louis seemed pretty nice for real also but we also know that Joe had to put a lid on his deeper opinions, whatever they might’ve been - but he appeared to be on very good terms with a lot of his old foes later in life.

Fighters back then new how to treat there opponents with respect and common courtesy. Boxers back then treated boxing as a job. It was there profession. For the most part that is until Ali came along fighters kept there personal lives out of the spotlight. Unlike all this nonsense that goes on the last 2 decades. These guys can't go through a press conference or weight in without putting hands on each other. Ridiculous behavior is practically the norm anymore sad to say.

I didn't wanna have to do this but...LaMotta. Could be a little bit of a sex assaulter and he was very murdery and wife-beatery but when you get outside of that, I think you'll find, harsh as he could be, pretty nice man.

Corrie Sanders was ready to drive through to help one of his friends who was in danger of getting smacked. (His pal was pranking him)

Wasn't he also killed trying to stop an armed robbery? Now that's a hero death.

Duran's not remotely in the mix, to be frank lol

He improved as he got older but he's got way too much bad mileage to be mentioned in the thread, let alone among guys like Arguello.

As far as I remember he shielded his daughter with his body from the robbers who shot him. I can't remember the details tbh.

There's a lot more to it than that.

On 22 September 2012, Sanders was fatally shot in an armed robbery at a restaurant called Thatch Haven in Brits, South Africa, where a function was being held for his nephew's 21st birthday. He had been near the entrance of the restaurant talking to his 15-year-old daughter Marinique and a cousin when three robbers entered firing their guns.[14] Sanders had used his body to shield his daughter from oncoming bullets and then, while bleeding from bullet wounds in his right arm and stomach, pulled her to the ground and whispered for her to pretend to be dead.[15][16][17] Sanders was taken to a hospital in Pretoria, where he died in the early hours of 23 September 2012 of his wounds.[18]

IDK man. You make a good argument but I heard he once sent a steak back for being overcooked. Hard to overlook that.
