Til this date, I think that was the most violent beating I have seen in a high level UFC fight. Another masterpiece was his second destruction of Franklin -- it wasn't as raw as the first but boy was it a beauty to watch the way he finished him. I don't think I've seen anyone land such accurate shots with such variety yet so vicious; he made it look like it was choreographed.

yes he did stop ortiz take down attempt and pretty much beat him up but against machida he couldn't do much. He did almost got to submit him but that was because machida got careless. He had him hurt and tried to finish him and got caught.

Machida is much more skilled than liddell. Striking and ground game IMO.

MAchida - Silva and GSP a far third. Yes his wrestling is great but his defense is weak and this is not just GSPs weakness but MMAs weakness. MAchida has taken MMA to a different level (Silva too) in a way that Boxing afficionados can look at MMA and watch Lyoto fight and say, you know he reminds me of Floyd, Pernell. Otherwise none of these guys can come close to the sweet science.

There are a ton of holes in GSPs standup, I mean even against Fitch (someone whose strikes boxing fans would laugh at) GSPs face looked horrendous. But his great wrestling saves him.

For me if you are going to put someone in MAchidas level of efficiency, its Fedor (but hes not in the UFC) and his technique as effective as it is, isnt exactly beautiful to look at.

Silva on the otherhand, had victories (like mentioned above) that are complete masterpieces, textbook striking, footwork, feints and not have a scratch

This is a hard poll to answer - but I still have to go with Anderson Silva for his amazing mix of groundfighting skills and striking ability.

I still vote for Silva. You guys are crazy if you say otherwise just because he didn't KO his last two opponents.

:thumbsup:thumbsup Spot on Tuffy. Absolutely brutal. As much as i love that victory i couldnt help but feel sorry for Franklin. The guy was clinically taken apart with stunning and precise ease. The poor blokes nose was visibly bent at a 90 degree angle and he was completely out of sorts. Defiantly one of the best displays of skill iv seen in a UFC ring.
