As we all know, the history of Ghanaian boxing is rife with teak tough warriors who have never been stopped. Although these fighters rarely make it to the top of their sport (usually faltering against their nemeses, the young British prospect) there is no doubting their heart, courage and durability. But of all the great Ghanaians down the years, who is the toughest?

Who matched up best against their kryptonite style, the protected British hype job?

I'd be very keen to hear the input of the more knowledgeable British posters around here.

    I'll go with Ossie Duran.

Edit: Checking his BoxRec, he's aptly named 'The Ghanaian Gladiator'

Please educate me - Was he ever stopped? Was his homeland war torn? How durable was he?

Started as a lightweight, currently campaigning at middleweight. Never been stopped and is always competitive despite fighting the likes of James Kirkland, Jamie Moore, Fernando Guerrero and Bradley Pryce.

He's as teak-tough as they come :deal

I must say Obodai Sai impressed me with his teak toughness, this guy didn't even get stopped by bombs from Jamie Cox for god's sake.. He was also the slickest man in the history of the sport due to him being the blackest man in the history of the sport.

Was Azumah Nelson ever stopped? Did he ever fight the over hyped British prospect in his own back yard?

...Still, it rules him out of the running for the teak-tough title.

Don't think Azumah Nelson quite makes the cut then I'm afraid.. How could ****** ever justify bringing a 'once stopped' Ghanaian over.

Nelson clearly had a glass jaw and obviously lacked the teak toughness of a true Ghanaian.

Are we sure he is 100% ethnically Ghanaian? Perhaps he's part Togolese? His claims of Ghanian blood are certainly at odds with the stoppage on his record. :think

You have to watch out for those crafty Togolese *******s. Honest promoters like our Fwank bring them over to face his top prospects under the impression that they're Ghanaian, only to see them crumble under the bright lights of Grimsby Leisure and Recreation Centre.
