We've had over-rated, now let's see the other side of the coin.

    Who and why?

People are going to mock me, but Cris Arreola showed some serious promise early in his career. Los Angeles is a pretty good fight crowd, and he built a solid fan base here for that reason. Unfortunately, he fell in love with his hype and hasn't delivered yet.

That is just a current guy off the top of my head.

Froch's technical ability is very underrated. Good jab, timing and placment in the ring.

I've discussed this with you before mate, and I know a lot of people recognise his supreme talent, but Ricardo Lopez is still criminally underrated because he fought in a weight class that wasn't "sexy"
I can think of more underrated fighters, but Finito is the nearest thing there's ever been to another Arguello, and even though he gets plaudits, they're still not doing his talent justice.
Not the most original answer(and people will shout that he's not underrated) and I'll think of "better" answers, but I feel strongly about this.

I saw Kirkland in his pomp mate and it's not that he gets underrated, more that he pissed away what could have been the finest natural talent that a fighter from Britain(or fighting out of anyway) ever had.
I'm really crushed about his passing.Have a fond place in my heart for the guy and never forgot him.

Moruti Mthalane, Kazuto Ioka, Alexander Povetkin, Devon Alexander- very underrated

Daniel Geale, Brian Viloria, Robert Guerrero- a little underrated

Anselmo Moreno- only finally getting his respect

Mayweather and Pacquiao, as both are thought to be closer to 50 than 20 on the hypothetical "ATG list," and I strongly feel it is the other way around.

Has to be PAC. If you get any guy from 122-126 right now and say he'll dominate 147 in the years to come they'll tell you you're crazy. Now they all saying PAC is a cherry picking bum. PAC is the first boxer to beat another boxer by a landslide but at the same time he's being exposed.

Michael Moorer seems to only be remembered for losing to Foreman & getting blown away by Tua.

He had a remarkable career & was a very good fighter, not great but sadly underrated these days

Great shout. Lopez was phenomenal, but not nearly as acclaimed at the level he deserves.

    Very understandable, believe me.

I think Devon is quite underrated not for his talent and skills or for who he could beat, but for compiling a very, very good resume and fighting relevant after relevant fight by the age of 26.

X 2... Moorer is very underrated.

    ---

Also X 2 on the Ricardo Lopez shout out.

    ---

Oh, AND Jack Johnson gets less love than Sam Langford. I find that kind of wrong...

Beau Jack beat Willie Joyce, Bob Montgomery, Fritzie Zivic, Henry Armstrong, Sammy Angott, Tippy Larkin, Lew Jenkins, Bummy Davis and Janiro

Overshadowed by Ike Williams, and didn't even make ESB's top 25 lightweights. :verysad

Too many to list but the first one that came in mind was Holmes. One of the best Heavy weights in history but hardly ever gets mentioned.
