About the Gavilan - Graham fight, I very rarely watch non coloured fights, I don't know why, it's just not my thing. I'll do it Sunday though :good

    Gatti: a beast at Lightweight.
Aaron Pryor: could have beaten SRL but didn't get the chance.
Sanders: knockouted Wladimir and if Vitali didn't have that super chin he would have been knockouted to.
Johnny Bredahl: a ring master at Bantamweight with great footwork and punches but was to protected by his manager.
    Baldomir: never easy

Wilfred Benitez would be my pick. Just watched his fight with Duran the other day again, and that was a masterclass. No telling what he could have done if he was properly managed

Gatti stands best at 130 IMO :good

Great shout with Pryor, his first fight with Alexis is one of my favourites.

Bredahl's career is wrongly defined by his DLH loss.

    Oh jesus. :-(

Gavilan is one of the best Welterweights (and fighters) ever ! :deal Cream of the crop athleticism, skills, ability -- tremendous speed, great movement, exquisitely awkward angles, varied punch selection, could switch gears and maintain a frenzied work rate on call, indomitable chin. He had a penchant for really showing up with his A+ game when the stakes were highest (and rather nonchalant when they weren't). His double and triple left hooks to the body and head are a thing of beauty... The bolo punch too I guess :yep

Jacobs and Cayton are pretty damn competent imo. Wilfred just peaked exceptionally early and had questionable work habits. His dad also helped him blow all his earnings. He was brilliant though, yes. A big reason SRL rates so high.

"Hawk Time" have become one of my favourites to :thumbsup

Jimmy Bredahl faced ODLH not Johnny!
The brothers became WBO champs on the same night.
ODLH beat Jimmy bad for 11 rounds and he was never the same again.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I was aiming that at his father Gregorio Benitez. Who was putting his son Wilfred into street fights for money at the age of 9. The main cause of Wilfred's downfall was that he became punch drunk at a young age due to all the fighting he'd been exposed to as a child. Though his training and commitment were an issue as well, I read somewhere that he only trained about 9 full days for the fight with Leonard!

Off the top of my head- Emannuelle Augustus. That guy was on the wrong side of MANY terrible decisions.

Also Glen Johnson. Same situation with him- had to fight other fighters in their turf and was on the wrong end of many bad decisions as well.

Some of the picks I'm reading stump me a bit. A good portion of the guys mentioned are HOFer's and top 50-100 boxers of all time.

Another notable Legendary Nights myth from that: SRL ducked Pryor (even though Aaron turned down the fight and was in no position to demand anything). I would've loved to see him coming flying in at Leonard that wide open. Different ballgame from a man who was at his most prolific at 126-130 in Alexis.

My favorite journeyman. I've often wondered how his career would have gone if he had decent management and promotion.

He gave Mayweather a hell of a fight. That, alone should indicate that he was much better than his record.
