Great Call :deal Larry's problem is that he was champ in between to other great champs who were more exciting to watch. They weren't any better, just more exciting.

Gatti gets the credit he deserves in spades. He had zero defence though, and his greatest attribute was heart,so he's not really underrated.
As for Pryor,a fabulous talent but there is zero evidence to suggest he would have beaten Ray.

It's one thing that you didn't respond to my original post, but the fact you commented on the Pryor suggestion without giving the point about Ray the disdain it deserved is the action of someone who wants a fight young man.:rosstheboss:rosstheboss:rosstheboss
    I'm very disappointed

I agree with you mate, and that's why I tried to add that while Lopez is an ATG,he still doesn't get the respect he deserves.
Hope I was clear on that.:good

Augustus was a great call. Along those same lines I'll give ya Grady Brewer. Fought anybody, anytime, anyplace; often took fights on 2 weeks notice or less, tore the ass right off 5 or 6 undefeated prospects, won Contender season II, beat current titleholder K-9, and damn near took Fernando Guerrero's head off. There was a period of years when Brewer was the ultimate gate keeper: The hotshot prospects who beat him went on to do big things; the ones who lost drifted into obscurity. IMO if Grady had turned pro younger, and had good management, we would remember him as a solid 147 pound titlist instead of a 147-154-160 pound journeyman.

Burt was only guilty of taking what he wanted from my post and discarding what he didn't want to see mate.I did my best to keep it civil but I know veterans deserve a bit of slack sometimes.
Can you imagine what he'd have been like if I mentioned the magic mirror though?

Wait, did we just hijack SJS's thread with SRL talk? :verysad :D

Despite being in both the IBHOF/WBHOF, Billy Graham is underrated these days.

    His CBZ Profile:

    This content is protected

BORN: September 9 1922; New York, New York
    DIED: January 22 1992
    HEIGHT: 5-7 (Some sources report 5-8 )
    WEIGHT: 127-156 lbs
    MANAGER: Irving Cohen
    TRAINER: Whitey Bimstein
    RECORD: 102-15-9 (27 KO, 2 EX)

Graham was as good as they get without being great; He won over 100 bouts during his ring tenure and was unbeaten in his first 58 contests, although there were some draws; Billy was never knocked down

Among those he defeated during his career were Kid Gavilan, Joey Giardello, Carmen Basilio, Art Aragon, Paddy Young, Arto Soto, Johnny Cesario, Jimmy Herring, Terry Young, Tony LaBua, Jimmy Sanders, Tony Pellone, Jean Walzack, Pat Scanlon, Cleo Shans, Willie Beltram, Frankie Carto, Ted Christie and Charley "Cabey" Lewis.

Herb Goldman ranked Graham as the #9 All-Time Welterweight; He was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1989 and the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.

Dariusz michalczewski doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot. beat some very good fighters and was a long reigning lineal champ.

Naseem hamed is another one. yeah, he lost to barrera, but he also beat a long list of very good fighters. what he brought to boxing should never be forgotten. you may not like him on a personal level, but he was exciting in the ring. seems to get no love what so ever these days.

Don't think Naz is underrated mate. Most people acknowledge that he was outrageously talented but the fact that he lost his stomach for battle after a loss that despite being comprehensive, was hardly along the lines of Froch-Bute means that there will always be debate about his standing.

That and people are forgetting the difference in weightclasses. Don't think Leonard could make 140 and the only fight Pryor fought at 147 he got ko'd in. Wasn't the frenzied monster he was a weight below.

See you changed your avatar to Gavilan after talking about him a few hrs ago:lol:
