Yes you are right about that. At his peak Curry was one of the most complete fighters there was - it would take a great fighter to beat a prime Curry. I always found it shocking how his career collapsed after the Honeyghan and McCallum defeats. I have copies of both his matches with Marlon Starling which I need to watch. Good pick! :good

    Miguel Ángel González
    57W-5L-1D-40KO's

Very underrated during his 2 year lightweight championship run
    (9-Title defenses)
*Was in most publications P4P lists during his run @LW

Miguel Ángel González is recognized as one of the best lightweight of the early 1990s. Due to his impressive unbeaten streak, he was once held in the same regard as Julio César Chávez and Ricardo Lopez (arguably the best and most popular Mexican boxers during the same period. (Took this excerpt from Wiki^)

He gave every fighter he faced in his prime a very tough and competitive fight. Unfortunately he fought in one of the best welterweight eras ever, but he'd likely be a champ were he fighting today.

His time will come. He's one of my favorite UK fighters hopefully steps it up in competition. Vasquez looked like crap in his last fight Burns has a good chance, but then maybe Vasquez could of had an off night. Burns has the size and skill for 140 just needs to start taking some risks to get that recognition.

When I think of Don Curry I always think of Milton McCrory, who was also underrated but not quite as good, and then I think of Colin Jones who was underrated as well and then I think of Kirkland Laing...and on and on it goes.
    I'm a ha'co mofo boxing fan.U dig?

I also think of Mike McCallum when I think of Don Curry, and he might not be underrated in the sense of this thread, but he's still underrated for me.
    He's ****in great!:bbb

    for me it's JMM.

the guy is phenomenal and I think he was underrated 10 years ago, I think he's underrated now and I think he'll be underrated when all is said and done.

One of the best technical boxers ever imo, Don was extremely talented. The McCrory fight is an absolute textbook example of how to deal with a taller fighters jab.

I'm a big fan of Mike but a bigger fan of Kalambay who absolutely schooled him in their 1st fight, one of the best performances Ive ever seen, ever.

Sumbu is one the best pure boxers on film imo & ranks right up there with the best defensive fighters of all time. He gets plently of love these days so I dont think he's as under rated as McCallum.
