He was overrated to begin with.... He knocked out a bunch of bums and got a lot of hype. He lacks boxing skills and defense and has no relentless pressure style. Against a decent fighter his power diminishes as a factor. My vote other -- Joshua Clottey
I voted for Jermain Taylor. There is a tendency on ESB to view JT's entire career through the lense of the Ouma and Spinks fights. Those fights were not the norm, but many people act as if they were.
Everyone used to hate Taylor. This despite the fact that he ducked no one, didn't really talk trash and had some great wins under his belt. Mysteriously, everyone loved him after he got knocked out by Pavlik. Weird.
Of those listed, I vote Jermain Taylor. He lost to Pavlik twice, but IMO Pavlik will take some stopping, he is an absolute beast at middleweight, I'd take him to beat anyone at supermiddleweight or lightheavyweight just now. Taylor had 2 wins and a draw from 3 fights with 2 HOFers. Yes, the fights were close, but it takes a quality fighter to make a fight with Hopkins or Wright that close. He wasn't great against Ouma or Spinks, but he won them, and has decent wins over Joppy and Marquez too. I think Taylor can beat Lacy and/or Froch, and become a force again. I wouldn't fancy him v Calzaghe, but he is still currently underrated IMO. And it is worth noting that the referee could easily have stopped the 1st Pavlik fight in the 2nd. When I was watching it live, I actually thought the ref should have. Of course, I was proved wrong, but it was damn damn close! Where would Taylor be now if that fight had had a different referee??
Why are you posting rolling eye smilies and the little gay pink smiley? Are you on a mad smiley spree at the moment? Who do you think you are - bigtime9?-think:yikes
Depends on who you are talking to on the forums. I'll make a quick list of boxers I've seen under-rated by many users on this forum: Oscar Mayweather Calzaghe Roy Jones Taylor Hatton First names that came to mind, I'm sure there are others. Armchair athletes have a tendency to under-rate people who can do what they never could.
Does Jermaine judge his own fights? He rematched Hopkins, and offered Winky a rematch. He doesn't judge the fights. It's weird that he only got any type of lover after he gets knocked out.
