Even with the weakest of weak divisions, a guy taking over will normally have some noise about him. I get the feeling even if he fully unified and defended for 10 years he wouldn't get any hype lol
He probably is one of those guys who can´t draw flies to a turd. And honestly, It makes sense as nothing about him screams of charisma: he is a funny looking, stoic guy with a weird name. Only a few times did TR put him on big cards. And all of his recent, championship opponents have been complete nobodies. Even if he became undisputed, I doubt many would care.
I don't know mate. Looking at the landscape, LMW is devoid of big names, SMW will be when Canelo leaves, and there's no way he beats Bivol at LHW. He'll just be a forgotten man I reckon which is a huge shame
Yea, there really isn´t any sugarcoating this, is there? Then again, Mosley was a former lightweight and you never know how these things play out. We might be surprised. Also, hopefully this means that making unification fights will be easier as there is so little money flowing in the division. Which brings me to the Saudis! They want their own little league, which might save Zhanibek. I seriously doubt they would proceed without middleweight.
Yeah they can build him like Hrgovic maybe, as a supporting act who knocks guys out. Maybe then he'll get a following, probably the only way tbh.
You must be a family member of the Charlos. You are acting totally clueless of how much other fighters have been ridiculed and discredited for accomplishing even more than the Charlos....... Usyk is widely respected. I wouldn't put his name in that group. Same with Inoue & Canelo.... Most people that speak ill will of them are individuals whom are fans of someone they fought or may face. Devin was called an Email Champion for a while before he beat Kambosos the first time. Even after becoming undisputed, many didn't consider that win great as Kambosos only claim to fame was his win over Teofimo Lopez. Haney gets a win over Lomachenko...and most say Loma got robbed. He then beats Regis Prograis and oddly, some argued that was a fluke, claiming he was too big for that division and should be fighting at 147lbs.....Weird because he had just moved to 140lbs from 135lbs. If you are trying to argue Charlo getting more hate than Crawford....I can't do nothing more than laugh at anything you say. Crawford's accomplishments: Victories over 11 world champions. 9x world champion across 3 divisions. 3x Lineaal Champion, 2x Undisputed. 2x Fighter of the Year. 1 of 3 boxer in history to get an ESPY Award. The only active boxer to have his fist engrave at the HOF ceremony. All of that under his belt and his detractors claim "he hasn't fought nobody. Gamboa was undefeated and a top 5 p4p fighter. Crawford put him on the mat 5x on the way to a stoppage.....Yet, people claim Gamboa was past his prime....On the flip side....they give Tank Davis more love for going 12 rounds with him before a stoppage, when Gamboa injured his Achilles in the 2nd round. Crawford moved up to 147lbs to challenge Keith Thurman and the rest of the PBC stable and he was literally black balled from facing any of them while they had titles, yet Crawford was blamed for not fighting them. The term "Wrong Side of the Street" was a phrase created to use as the reasoning Crawford couldn't get those fights. Keith Thurman claimed he had to prove himself. Talked down about his resume, then Thurman loses to Manny, the following week he's demanding Crawford send a contract. Crawford was said to not have the heart to face Porter. Porter's camp guaranteed a stoppage. Crawford runs him over, stopping him and retiring him... The notion switched to "Porter was on his way out". "He was a shell of himself".........Crawford's victory over Kell Brook with a 4th round stoppage was belittled. Even when Crawford finally gets the Spence fight. No one commends Crawford for actually CALLING SPENCE so they can work out the details in the contract, but Crawford got all the blame when representatives of both fighters couldn't make a deal on 2 different occasions. Crawford was said to look drained before the fight. People say he was struggling to make weight because he was in Vegas at the press conference in a sweatsuit. Then Crawford obliterates Spence, putting him down 3x on the way to a 9th round stoppage. First thing I heard from Spence fans is, Crawford needs to thank Spence for even getting the opportunity. Crawford was stripped of his IBF title just 5 weeks later because ERROL SPENCE JR. didn't honor his mandatory for 4 years while holding the belt. EJ activates a rematch clause keeping Crawford from negotiating any fight, so the IBF gives the title to Jaron Ennis who petitioned to fight Errol before the Undisputed bout. Hell even CHARLO HIMSELF got on social media after the fight claiming all Crawford did was throw elbows and low blows to beat Spence........lol. New media is still claiming that Errol Spence Jr. is a better fight at 154 lbs than Crawford, thus they tried to push a Fundora/Spence match up over a Crawford match up. I can keep going.......Please tell me exactly how TF the Charlos are the most underrated. Their only hatred comes from their character and tactics on how they treat their peers. Getting into beefs and fights with Caleb Plant, Jose Benavidez......calling out Danny Jacobs but then changing energy when come face to face with him in NY. Both of them barking and screaming they want GGG and Canelo. One finally gets the Canelo fight and turns it down for whatever reason making way from the other to take the fight, but he doesn't go in the ring looking to win. He was just there for a paycheck..........Please inform me how they are the most underrated.
Lmaooooooooooooooo!!!! This isn't even worth responding to. You proved my point more than I ever could. *ignore list*
I just thought of Ryoichi Taguchi in Light Flyweight when you watch his fight against "CCC" Carlos Canizales, he's really strong and underrated. He was also partially unified champion in Light Flyweight. Taguchi also beat Yu Kimura (who went on to win the WBC World title in Light flyweight), Rober Barrera, Ryo Miyazaki (who was WBA World champion in Minimumweight), Juan Jose Landaeta (who beat Chana Porpaoin), Kwanthai Sithmorseng, Milan Melindo (for the IBF title in Light Flyweight)...
Yet you responded.... You don't have a rebuttal because you ignorance can't be justified. You are just here crying for attention. Continue to love your man.... It's okay... Moving on.
This!!!! Based on co text, you could.argue.he has a better resume than Loma, Tank, Crawford, and Inoue
That's because when you take in consideration context, Crawford never.defeated a prime "elite" fighter.
Briedis, Berterbiev, Bivol, Dereveyenchenko, N. Inoue are all good shouts. Think I'd have to go with Briedis overall.
Why is it that Crawford gets held to a different standard than other greats. Out of all of those world champions that Floyd beat....which ones were in their prime? Oscar and Sugar Shane was on his way out the door. He fought Manny 7 years after it should have happened.....etc. Gamboa was undefeated and top 5 p4p. But because Crawford demolished him he wasn't prime. He was a trophy win for Tank Davis and Devin Haney whom both fought him after Crawford... Neither one of them get so much criticism on him as an opponent and neither of them did what Crawford did to him. Hell he fought Tank on one foot for 10 rounds..... Spence was promoted to be some super man. People marveled how he was able to beat down Danny Garcia following his car accident (in which he had zero major surgeries, which is a miracle in itself). They praised him for his ability to bust Ugas's eye socket after his own surgery in which he got PUNCHED in the eye by a sparring partner....... (Why was it we never got the name of that sparring partner.......I know why....and I know who as well, but we can't put the video out there). Even leading up to the fight.... EJ was said to be too strong for Crawford to hurt. It was said that Crawford was going to have to fight on his back foot and out box EJ is he was going to be victorious. Afterwards all the excuses as to why Crawford was so dominant. As a matter of fact, there are multiple articles even on this very site that talks about how Errol Spence Jr. and Shawn Porter were going to be too much for Crawford. Your comment here just goes to show that just maybe the answer to the question by the OP of this thread, just might be Terence Crawford. I've never seen the goal post moved so much when it comes to one fighter. It's hilarious, because he's such a likeable champ. And if you get the opportunity to meet him, he's a great individual. Hell, even the fighters who I wouldn't consider to be "elite" but pretty good or above average, people doubted Crawford's ability vs them. There's articles and forums that talk about how Postol was supposed to be the test to see if Crawford is truly ready to challenge Manny (simply because they both had the same trainer at the time). Crawford was also said to be trying to avoid Indongo because he was talking about moving up to welterweight to challenge Thurman after the Felix Diaz fight. Amir Khan's speed was supposed to give Crawford frustration and issues. Kell Brook was suppose to be too big for Crawford to effect. All of this was out there. I remember looking at the comments on videos with Andre Ward and Tim Bradley talking up Crawford's ability vs some of these guys I mentioned and people were calling them delusional and ESPN puppets as if they were only saying the things they said because Top Rank was a ESPN partner and Crawford was signed to Top Rank.
