But the 26 year old Chad Dawson who fought a 39 year old Johnson and Tarver is fine. I can see a lot of thought went into a thread for discrediting a man fighting someone only a few years older than him.

I suppose you could say Calzaghe is nearing the age where Dawson should be elligable to fight him, or is he not old enough?

A fighters prime differs its really no set age. Some fighters primes end faster Morales prime ended fast for being in all those wars and Hopkins prime lasted longer most likely due to his suburb defense and boxing skills. Calzaghe and RJJ may be around the same age at 36 and 39 respectively and no doubt Calzaghe is not in his prime either, but he certainly is not past it considering Calzaghe is more close to his prime than RJJ was. But reguardless good but not great win for Calzaghe, he should retire on top. To answer the question as to who is the next 39 or 43 year old boxer for Calzaghe maybe Johnson or Tarver.
