i just think he's had that little bit of controversy thats already set him apart with what happened at the olympics. of course that doesnt mean anything ability wise but i've just got a feeling about him.
I think Gavin could do alright. If he works with Kerry Kayes he will be able to find his natural weight division PDQ. It is a theme that in the ams a guy would fight above his pro weight class because they cannot keep the weight off for a sustained period of time. I think he will come in at 135, probably settle at 140. Neither division is likely to be all that cracking on the world level in a couple of years, but domestically there is plenty to go at to help him get there.
Nah..... Froch is a very good fighter, but that is all. His promoter Mick Hennessy doesn't believe that though. Prior to Taylor wimping out, he said: "I am looking forward to Carl Froch and Jermain Taylor challenging for the vacant WBC title, and hope that we can stage the event over here. The WBC has awarded it's titles to great names such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Floyd Mayweather. It is a great honour for Carl to be challenging for this most prestigious world title, and it will be another step along the way towards Carl becoming the biggest name in world boxing" Now...... Correct me if I am wrong, but Frochy is now 31. By the time Floyd Mayweather was 31, he had conquered five different weight classes without losing and had ridden off into the sunset. In this time, Froch has won the British title, turned down a fight with Joe Calzaghe, and refused another world title challenge because he wanted to win the European title to complete 'doing it the old school way'. Winning the Euro title is very commendable and should not be belittled, but having previously turned down a fight with Calzaghe but continued calling him out, it does make you look rather silly. Especially if the Euro title shot never actually happens :rofl I like Froch as a fighter, and as a geezer actually - but his mouth has been in overdrive for as long as I can remember. Time to shut up and deliver. Which he will in this instance. Not P4P material though :deal
nah,he dont let them train as he dont want them to be boxers,i heard eubanks son is looking sharp though.
I pretty much agree actually, but I think Froch is very marketable, and he's going to get a lot of hype from fighting on terrestrial TV. If he beats Pascal, I think ITV are really going to start pushing him, although I agree that the Euro route is fairly pointless in the grand scheme of things. Urm, so I guess what I'm trying to say is that Froch should keep talking, and avoid the REALLY dangerous fights in the division for a while, Frank Warren style. If he's promoted properly, he'll certainly be a superstar in this country. And has the beating of fighters like Taylor and Lacy IMO. Plus some fighters are actively avoiding him, which helps. But a lot of this hangs on the Pascal fight, so we'll see.
david haye is the obvious answer. but with 20,000 plus willing to stay up to nearly 3am to watch him , he is already a star.
I think Haye could be classed as one of the three CURRENT superstars along with Ricky and Joe. But I see your point :good
Which Mitchell? Kevin is a Euro level/fringe world level fighter. Good power, chin and plenty of heart, but was taken to the brink by Leeds lad Carl Johanneson - a proven British level operator - which tells you all you need to know. Vinny Mitchell - aka 'Chinny Vinny'. Basically he didn't inherit much of what Kevin has. He can't punch, and was decked by a guy called Robin Deakin, who was 1 - 3 - 0 at the time and is now 1 - 14 - 0 now!
No. He will fail miserably. It will be like Khan II, only slightly worse. He's very open, runs all around the ring, doesn't have any pop and he's pretty clumsy.
