the consensus view seems to be that most boxers are sound as a pound, with a few exceptions of guys who only try hard in front of the camera but are really twats....Foreman, Hatton, Oscar.

boxer's in general are more adoring to their fans than most professional athletes. Ali was known to help people on the side of the road and take out the jumper cables from his bentley so they could start their car. as a teen i was lucky enough to meet him and he smooched me and hugged me to death like if he was my grandad or something. amazing human being. never really met a fighter of any level that was an ******* to his fans. believe it or not, i'd hear floyd actually adores his fans and loves to hang with them despite playing the villain in the ring. idk, rumor i've heard, but it wouldn't surprise me. boxing really is a business, that's why i never really buy into the hype or judge a book by its cover. before i forget naz gave away his brand new porsche after getting a mountain of tickets to a loyal fan. notice the 3 guys i mentioned at one point were or are still hated, but in reality might be different then everyone thinks

That I have met that were really cool... James "Lights Out" Toney, Audley Harrison, Jorge Diaz...

I have heard first hand some great stories about how cool Mosley and Hop are as well..

Alexis Arguello is super cool, played golf with a buddy of mine. All class.

I am sure a lot of them are.

Winky Wright is the only one I have seen in person. I used to see him running at the park all the time before middle school, he was always nice to all the kids.

This was a few years before I started watching boxing and I had no idea he was a world champ back then. Then one day I see him on HBO fighting Vargas, and Im thinking holy****, used to see him jogging all the time. Would have spoken to him and got an autograph if I would have known how good he was and that I would one day be obssessed with boxing:patsch

Mosley jumps to mind immediately. He just seems like a genuinely, good hearted human being.

Roy Jones also. He has a cocky side but deep inside, i think he's another caring human being. He's actually afraid to go after KO's because he doesn't want to see them suffer serious injury. He still hasn't visited G-man after his injury. And he said that if he did, he would retire without a doubt because it would completely kill his motivation to fight. How many guys are THAT caring about other guys? Most guys want to go out there and kill the other guy.

    Yeah, Glen Johnson also.

Hatton's 'niceness', as with everything else about the man, is contrived. He's an A-grade phony. He has a bitter streak, that emerges like an insecurity amongst all the working class references. In addition, he's a bad sport, and something of a thick one too, as in his interviews he'l say 'no excuses', and then proceed to rattle off about 200 of them. Inside the ring, he'll stoop to deliberate testicle punching after he cops an accidental one, and pretty much anything else he can think of to turn the sweet sience into classless affair.
