Gamboa for me BUT it will be very interesting if he fights Lopez ie Gamboa can be reckless and Lopez has big power

John is obviously quality, but for me his obvious stamina problem, constant cancelling of fights and the many weak mandatories he has taken, mean he doesn't take the top spot for me.

Both he and Marquez were guilty of a poor showing, but that was a long time ago. John is going nowhere fast. He's essentially a lower weight Sturm, holding the WBA for years and doing next to **** all.

Until John fights someone the calibre of Koji Sato I'm going to say he's a lesser fighter than Sturm. Which therefore makes him a lesser fighter than Juanma or Gamboa.

If Juanma makes a statement with Salido, where Gamboa only looked top quality sporadically and at times lackadaisical, the matchup becomes red hot!!!

Then would be the time to make it, and if Chris John wants to get battered by Gamboa after, make that as well.

 

The Sturm comparison is quite apt. They are both essentially living off one performance. Sturm's was a 'loss' on paper, but you get the point. Chris John does not wow me. He's a bit meh, he doesn't really do a lot for me. He's not bad though, I just wouldn't expect him to trouble these guys. He's a good boxer but not great. His power is average. His athletic ability is quite average. He's just a good boxer that is quite clever in and out of the ring it seems. But he's going to have to have the boxing IQ equivalent to Einstein in physics to figure out Gamboa with his basic setup.

I hope JuanMa does a proper job on Salido cos at the moment everyone agrees Gamboa > JuanMa H2H. A big win over Salido would get people thinking again.

 

I think Gamboa would beat both of them. He seems bigger at the weight than the other two and I think he's got more power and speed. Lopez has good power but think moving up weight he has lost a little.

Lopez has a better resume than Gamboa and John hasn't done anything worthwhile in a long time. So Lopez is #1 for me.
