Valuev? Ruiz? Peter? Barrett? Chagaev? Maybe Arreola?

I think Valuev and Arreola will be the official measuring stick in the heavyweight division...Your thoughts?

Probably Barrett. Although he dropped and hurt haye and has decent power his chin never matched his power.

in order to be a gate keeper you have to fight alot of people ..and fight often...valeuv fights the same group....chagaev averages 2 fights a year since he turned pro
prob barrett, but thats not much of a gate keeper....gate keepers should win once in a while

Gatekeeper is the one who cant fight for something big by himself but win over him open gates for other to big fights.

Barrett is borderline gatekeeper, guys like Rahman, Golota could be over there if they would be more active. Peter looks good as gatekeeper but I think he still may come back strong IF he stop getting fat.

Barrett. He's challenged for titles, and has given virtually all the top five contenders and title holders a fight at one time or another. He's the measuring stick of whether a HW is worthy of being in the elite top ten or not, imo.

Before him, I used to think it was David Tua, for if you could beat Tua you were "in".

John Ruiz seems to be another gate keeper. Chagaev beat him, Valuev did as well, so did Toney and Jones. Beating Ruiz made them names in the division. So, again, the former 2 time WBA champion has fallen into the gate keeper category as well. Maybe another candidate for the gate keeper position is Andrew Golota, as Lamon Brewster and Tomasz Adamek and plenty of others became bigger names following their wins over him.

Golota is shot, and so seems to be Berrett. Solis easily dismantled him,and Solis isnt exactly known for his outstanding firepower.

Who is a gatekeeper? Not really that easy to define, isnt it!

Is Sherman Williams a gatekeeper? Or Denis Bakhtov?
