I made one on heavyweights, now who out of these fighters was the best H2H in their respective weight divisions?
When I put for certain fighters several weights, you decide what weight division you think was their best when making the choice of who to vote, even if you think their best was in a division I didn’t select for them, for example if you think Pacquiao’s best was WW, rank him H2H according to that.
Wanted to put Hearns in there, it would be SWW imo, but there wasn’t any more room.

The Duran who beat De Jesus in the rubber match is about as good as it gets. The Robinson who beat LaMotta is the only one who rivals or surpasses that version of Duran, but the lack of available footage at 147 makes me pick Duran.

Duran's always gonna be my pick until we see prime Greb footage.

WW Robby is the most monstrous fighter that ever existed w/in a single weight class IMO.

Incidentally, I would argue that RJJ was better @168 than 160.

This might be a dumb take, but I think the concept of P4P is dumb. Reminds me of kids on the playground “if I was a tall as you id be better at basketball!” Not only is it unprovable but all you did was prove the other guy is naturally better than you. Some people were just born better than others and thats natural and normal.
    (I am 5’6 btw)

Basketball doesn't have height divisions, that's the difference.

Saying p4p rankings in boxing is dumb because it's only best in absolute terms that matters, is akin to saying weight divisions in boxing are dumb, because it's only the best in absolute terms that is of interest.

Boxing history without weight divisions would be ever so much poorer for it in so many ways. So many great boxers and great fights would have never been seen or even occured.

So, if you accept weight divisions are for the betterment of the sport, which they clearly are, then discussions on who is the best and greatest relative to size, are inevitable, not dumb.

The basketball analogy was just to display how some are born with advantages. I agree with weight divisions, for viewer purposes. Ultimately the biggest men will win. Thats (most) sports and thats the way the world works.

    Agreed.

And with weight divisions, inevitably comes discussions about who the best relative to size is, which is neither dumb nor to be confused with who is best in absolute terms.

I would say Usyk at Cruiserweight and RJJ at Super Middleweight simply because they're newer divisions with far less historical fighters.

So for me it makes it easier to gauge that they're truly the standout fighters in those divisions.

VERY tough call between SRR and Duran. Ultimately I went with Duran not only for his dominance as a LW but also for his performance against SRL in their first bout. That's as amazing a single performance against an all-time great fighter as I've ever seen! (AND, in a higher weight class!!)

My vote is Greb too. An actual middleweight that beat ATG heavyweights. Can't get more OG than that.
