Incredibly difficult question and it’s naturally hard to compare across eras. For this thread I’m just looking at pure single punch KO power (rather than accumulation and combination power). Naturally guys like Shavers, Jackson, and Wilder instantly come to mind. I’ve narrowed it down in the following poll based on previous articles and the most commonly cited names but do feel free to add any names you think I’ve missed.

No mention of Edwin Valero who was unbeaten and stopped every opponent he ever fought as a pro ! 27 fights with 27 stoppages with 8 of those fights for World Titles over two different divisions .

Stanley Ketchell deserves the mention, but my vote goes to Julian Jackson

He had huge potential but his career was cut short due to his horrific crimes. I don’t think he proved his power the same way the other guys on the list did.

I'd rate Earliest Shavers a bit higher than Earlier Shavers.

From your list Id pick Jackson. From everyone Id pick Gerald McClellan with Edwin Valero a close second though I agree with you that we needed to see more of Valero to make a full assessment

McClellan was a murderous puncher, again though I feel we never saw his full potential due to the horrific injury that befell him.

But then we never saw Wilder's full potential either, because he fought primarily second rate guys... And the two best chins he fought, saw the final bell.

    The Hawk
But love Wilder or hate him, he is a thunderous puncher for a guy that's not heavy

Valero’s career was stifled as he had a motorbike crash that left him with a fractured skull and could not pass a brain scan to fight in certain Countries,he was allowed once to fight in Texas. He was a known head case and died at 28 by his own hand whilst on remand for allegedly killing his wife . Valero did not suffer multiple losses like every fighter on your list, but his career was stifled and like you say cut short .
