Who Is The Smartest Fighter Floyd Ever Fought?

The guy isn't particularly great in any one area of the game, yet has arguably defeated Pac all four times (I have it 2-1- JMM), and has won championships in multiple divisions. That speaks to his ring IQ. Even if Broner beats him, that's due to whatever talent he possesses, rather than any deficiency that JMM might possess in terms of ring knowledge.

That said, I think Jesus Chavez actually fought a smarter fight against Floyd than JMM did, at least in terms of implementing a game plan against a larger, faster opponent. JC is overlooked these days, but at his best, he would beat you up if you weren't elite.

 

If Broner would to beat him, it would mostly be due to Marquez age.

JMM at 135lbs would have whooped Broner. Not saying Broner wouldn't give him any problems, but at the end of the day, JMM has a higher ring iq, more experience, and just the more skilled technician.

Sorry but Mexicans should stick to brawling. Where's was JMM timing and ring generalship this fight? Telling you the imitator ion Broner does J MM in a similar fashion. Well Oscar tried to win the fight before he started. Heavier gloves which tires floyd out and softer shots so Oscar have no worries trying to walk Floyd down. Oscar was a solid middleweight while floyd was 149lbs, The ring was a joke, and small as hell. Floyd was near ropes no matter where he turned and Oscar doesn't have to cut the ring down.

 

Too bad Broner doesn't have Floyd's outside boxing skills, counterpunching skills, and high ring IQ.

JMM outside overhand right will get countered by straight punching all night just like against Floyd. Not my fault Mexicans are mostly hook fighters. Broner doesn't need outside game for this fight and it's not like JMM has a great jab. Broners jab will be more effective anyhow just like Floyd exposed JMm with his jab and JMM better not open with the left hook like he was able too against Manny. I disagree, nothing smart about it. Jesus Chavez wasn't effective he brought ineffective pressure. PBF knew Chavez couldn't hurt him. He ate many flush right hands uppercuts and was countered to hell in back for his trouble. He was beaten up so bad and over matched that his corner threw in the towel to save him. PBF basically toyed with Chavez, he absolutely owned him. There was nothing smart about Chavez in that fight other than the demolition job PBF put on his ass.

 

Like I said its cool JMM gets coined a technician but let's not get overboard with this guy. At the end of the day he falls short as a real technician.
