    Paul Appleby

Has a very similar style to Hatton in his younger days, i.e. high workrate, body shots etc, and looks an accomplished campaigner.

On the minus side, he also has a 'Hatton-like' defence!

Paul Appleby, is the best we got in britian, he is a top talent, he is very good offensive fighter with a good jab and a good ko ratio, he is still learning with a dodgey defence, he is still only 20 and 11 wins 0 loses! but sky say he is one of the best up and comers and all the british boxing magazines say he was the best!

Next up for Appleby is British champ John Simpson.

This fight will go along way in determining how far Paul can go. John is a good little fighter, and the type of fighter who sorts out the genuine prospects from the riff-raff.

In my opinion Appleby can easily get to world level, but it will take focus. Something Scottish fighters are notorious for having a lack of recently.

I dont know - but it just shows you over time the likes of Naseem Hamed only ever come along once every decade or two

well true but he has something that Hatton doesn't use which is a pumping jab. i think once he reaches a certain level he will be more cool for the back foot. he also throws some nice counter shots from what i remember.

ricky owen is another brit prospect. a bit of a slugger i think he will do well but doesn't look like he will be world champ but a good looking brit fighter to look out for

and unbeaten(wouldn't say prospect) josh wale are in the mix he's known for his redikulas spliced up trunks and typical ingle style. prolly chinny. he had been knocked down before but athletic and elusive gets a lot done when your with ingle

I think Appleby does have a good jab, but doesn't go to the body quite as much as he should.

It is nice to see a young British fighter being tested by opponents with winning records early in their career.

His defence is shocking at times, but he is a bit of a 'kill or be killed' fighter in the David Haye pre-2006 mould - though I expect this to improve.

Good to see young Brits going for the British title, as opposed to stupid inter-alphabetty titles.

I was just thinking of Lindsay, but the name wouldn't come to my head. I think he gives Appleby a tough night personally. He has nice skills, shame he has no pop at all
