It's gotta alot to do with it. He claims someone will stop another fighter and when they don't he fails to give credit for a great victory that proved him wrong, trying to downplay the win a haters tactic. He's still doing it now by saying Taylor is greater despite more loses and looking less dominate. Taylor is great but Shields is greater. If Shields had Taylor's record and Taylor had Shields record no one here would claim Shields was greater this is a popularity contest nothing more and is why the poll and thread have no credibility.

Then Marshall must be a man to. Since everyone here picked him to knock out Shields.

Ebany Bridges. Not even close. Makes all other women boxers look like a bunch of half chewed, swamp donkies.

The arguments for Taylor is the talent pool in the lower divisions she's won world titles in is a lot deeper than the higher ones and ones Claressa has won titles in, especially at 168 and 160

There are 34 registered female pros at 168

    36 at 160

    72 at 154

    Whereas there are

    105 at 140

    174 at 135

The gap used to be even bigger than that

Also Taylor has moved up through the divisions and Claressa has moved down through the divisions

Even though Claressa is a 2 x Olympic gold medalist and Taylor only a 1 x one, Taylor is a 5 x world amateur gold medalist and 6 x European one compared to Claressa being a 2 x world amateur championships gold medalist

The argument for Claressa is she's a three weight champ albeit in lower talent pool divisions compared to Taylor being a two weight one and none of Claressa's wins have been controversial like some of Taylor's have

Neither of them can punch through cobwebs or will be cracking my official P4P top 10 hottest female boxers anytime soon

I think that is the answer. Iron sharpens Iron.

    Combine the number of fighters registered at 154lbs through to 168lbs: 34, 36, 72 = 142 fighters. 135lbs alone has 174 fighters.
Shields can perhaps be considered undisputed champion over a combined 70-120 fighters. Big fish small pond
Taylor is currently undisputed champion over a combined 279 fighters. Big fish big pond

I don't even watch female boxing, but the answer seems pretty obvious when you consider talent pools.

I have no idea how you can pick Katie here.

She is the Canelo od boxing, with arguably just as many dodgy decisions. I am not a fan of Shields but she beat almost everyone in a dominant fashion and half of us here picked Marshall to beat her.

I understand the talent pool is greater in divisions lower down but you can't call her GWOAT, she arguably should have 4-5 losses on her record. Both Persoon fights could and should have been losses and same with both Cameron fights and a lot of other close bouts where she was 1 round away from drawing or losing

Its Shields. Taylor has been given some real 'gift' decisions in quite a few bouts.

Shields fought only 14 times since turning pro in 2016. Taylor turned pro in the same year and fought 24 bouts in two weight divisions.

Shields is inactive yet holds every belt. She defended every belt against an opponent 2-3-0 in her last 5 fights.

Inactive in a very shallow talent pool doesn't make anyone a GOAT. .Moving up and winning titles at 168 will decide if she's a true GOAT.

    Absolutely not.

I'd have to give that some thought as the talent pool in women's boxing is also very shallow in that regard too

I do badly want bedroom smoke with Baumgardner though. I don't give two hoots if she's on PEDs because she's going to need them to keep up with me. I want to show her what I'm working with, what I'm capable of and indeed what she's also capable of when she's in there with the right dance partner.
