    Silly arguement.
    Lacy was favourite against Calzaghe.
What makes you think Calzaghe would have lost if the fights had of happened sooner? Calzaghe was closer to the end of his career than either of the fighters you mentioned, in a new division also and when his hands were in arguably a worse state.
Also it was Hopkins who had a change of opinion about facing Calzaghe years previously

People tuned in to see Eubank beat :) 14-15million every eight weeks for 4-5 years. He was British life for half a decade!

Eubank was also the biggest boxing star across Europe, Asia and Africa, on Star Network and SABC etc. Not just here. Though here we also got to see him on the celebrity chatshow circuit most weeks.

Many did tune in to watch him, whether it was to support or not, he was very well watched.
I can recall being in a pub and it was packed to watch Eubank and that wasnt when he had the return against Benn. When he had the return against Benn, the atmosphere was unbelievable, though Benn played as big a part of that imo

But he was a bum where it mattered most at the time - America.

Talk about him being "British life" (you fool) because of the TV exposure, how about when Toney left him speechless on TV?!:lol:

Even when Chris asked to have his say he couldn't get his words out he was that shook from James!:lol:

It's not just that, but he derails EVERY thread he appears on (like this one) when he bangs on about Eubank.

Eubank just wasn't very good, fact.

He had ba*lls of steel in the heat of battle, but to actually be in battle with a WORLD CLASS yank was a battle in it's self. That's where he fell part, IMO. He lost to Carl Thompson ffs!:lol:

Chris will use abc/triangle theories (even though they don't work) but Benn has to rate higher based on who he fought and how he went about it.

Barkley, G-Man (if you was around then you'd know just how f*cking formidable he was) and beat beat them both. Hammered the one and nearly killed the other!

Chris would never DARE step into a ring with a yank of either quality. Instead he opted for fights in an undeveloped Dubai and places like Portugal against no-marks.

Just another Brit who was scared to face the big boys abroad.

Look at the MW division in 1991 and look who Chris faced out of it. Domestic level fights, simple.

And Bulldog24/atberry? If that isn't Chris himself or someone close to him then he needs to be a bit less biased as he is ridiculously biased when it comes to backing Chris.

He made the ripped 215lb Carl Thompson look like a donkey before his eye shut from a thumb.

I also find Eubank overrated, his only wins that really mean anything for me is Benn and Watson, and for the latter I thought he was lucky to get the decision in the first fight and he was getting the **** beaten out of him in the rematch till he landed that desperate, tragic hail mary, and he got a birthday present in the Benn rematch.

Guys like Essett, Thornton and Lindell Holmes would be world champions today. But back then the very best lb4lb boxers like Kalambay, McCallum, Toney, Nunn and Jones (all about as good as Mayweather Jr ever has been, better than Hopkins ever has been, and better than Ward) held the 160-168lb titles!

Not until his 1996 comeback for respect did Eubank want Toney and Jones, and they both turned him down.

Graciano Rocchigiani in Berlin was an awesome victory, and amazing performance. Especially considering how Rocchi went on to better Michalczewski and Maske in three fights, only to be robbed blind three times, and beat a rejuvenated Nunn.

Eubank against Watson the first time was an incredibly skilful performance, despite being so weight-drained; the reflexes he showed in that fight were frightening, especially those first five rounds (which he took clearly, schooling Michael).

Erm, the fact they were better when they were younger and in their primes. Jones was completely finished and a shell of his former self by the time Calzaghe fought him.

And Calzaghe was in his prime right?

No, but he wasn't shot like Jones or in his 40's and losing stamina like Hopkins. Calzaghe wanted no part of prime Jones as he didn't fancy his chances. And how do we know this? He said so himself.

Why didn't Chris try and make these fights in 1991-1994?

Look at 1990: Who did Chris fight on this list? Benn?

    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_Middleweight--1990s

Look at this list then from 1991-94: Who did Chris beat?

    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine's_Annual_Ratings:_Super_Middleweight--1990s

All that you EVER DO is derail threads because of your ego, Chris.

You make it ALL about you.

Now you will say how you faced Europe's best in those times and how "wonderful their mastery of the jab coupled with the precision power punching blah boa blah" was.

Face it: You ducked the best. Paint it anyway you want, but that is a fact.
