I know khan claims that he is the champ, but he has a history of making **** up. The WBA's website lists Peterson as the champ. It would be very odd for the WBA to order a rematch and then strip Peterson and reinstate Khan as champion despite Peterson complying with the rematch request. So who is the WBA JWW champ? Is there any source besides Khan that states that he is the champ?

All we need to know is that Khan lost, so Tim Bradley is the Big Dog of the division.

Tim Bradley is the best at 140. Who the champ is would be Lemant Peterson cause Bradley isn't fighting at 140 right now and Lemant beat Khan who was really the only active champion of any note at the time Peterson beat him.

Maybe I phrased my question wrong. Who currently holds the WBA version of the LWW title? I don't care who the top fighter is, I want to know who is in possession of the WBA LWW belt.

Even though you're joking, It wouldn't surprise me if you could find a WBA belt in a box of oatmeal. This is embarrassing. This is a boxing forum, we should know who the champ is. Not even the fighters are sure.

Yea. On the real though, I do think it's Maidana. He was interim, Khan was bumped up to Super, thus upgrading Maidana by default. And I think there's already another Interim WBA champ at 140. Dunno who though.

it also says Lamont Peterson is the Super Champion as of last month. So I guess we'll find out if Khan is actually reinstated or not, even though he doesn't have the IBF belt so he SHOULD NOT be a super champ. But then there'd be two regular champs..and that'd just be dumb and confusing, huh?

That's the thing though, Khan is the one who claims he is the WBA super champ. The WBA website has Peterson listed as champ. I haven't seen anyone but Khan claim that he is the champ. I'm confused. Was Khan lying again, or is the WBA website simply not updated?

Looks like it's Khan just talking out of his ******* again. Dude doesn't even think. He's not as bad as Victor Ortiz with spewing random ****...but no one likes a habitual liar.

"IBF belt holder Lamont Peterson remains the WBA light-welterweight champion tonight following an admission from the World Boxing Association that Amir Khan can reclaim the title in the ring on May 19th.

Khan, 25, recently visited Panama for a WBA awards dinner and since his return, has proclaimed his status as the WBA ‘Super’ 140lb title holder as he heads towards a rematch with his biggest rival to date.

WBA vice president Gilberto Mendoza has now declared that the only way that ‘King’ Khan can become the ‘Super’ belt holder once again is to beat the American in the ring at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The confusion has rumbled on since Sunday morning and may still have a course to run - but as stated by the WBA, Khan is not a world champion and will have to overcome the Washington-born fighter to recoup his previous belts."

The WBA bumped Chris John up to Supet Champ, despite him not being a unified champ. They then bumped Gamboa up from interim to regular champ. Gamboa then became Super champ after winning the IBF belt(even though you're not supposed to be able to unify the regular title). At that point, there were two super champs at FW. Gamboa later was stripped of his IBF title. After being stripped of his IBF belt, the WBA later decided to take away his WBA belt, citing him no longer being a unified champ as the reason(this despite several other non unified WBA champs being listed as Super champs). The WBA just make it up as they go along.
