In my opinion the worst boxing commentator is John Rawling.

He has a awful monotone voice, he repeats his limited number of phrases over and over again, and he's too much of a fanboy the way he gushes like a teenage girl over his favorite boxers.

Max Kellerman sometimes sounds like a 12 year old boy talking about his sports heroes, and that can be annoyingly unprofessional. But Max has a somewhat better voice and isn't as limited in his commentary as Rawling.

    Good shout.

Bias and lack of knowledge are two big negatives when commentating on boxing.

    Mauro Ranallo.

Most annoying voice ever. And his wordplay phrases he uses in attempts to be witty and clever.

But, yeah, that friggin' exaggerated voice, man. It's like a parody.

    As in the showtime guy?

I really like him. Has improved a lot. One of the better ones now.

IDK The guys mentioned above,by names, but to answer the ts, it's gotta definitely be somebody on SHO. That crew would be completely pathetic without Malignaggi. They would be more fit to comment on the Macy's parade, I mean, they don't show any emotion at all!!

Right :goodJohn Rawling has a very bad voice. I hate his repetitive phrases. Half of my game goes bad, ones he sit as a commentator.

Larry Merchant still technically counts as he still works international PPV broadcasts.

Aw, leave Bob alone. For the production value of the shows he calls, he is decent enough - and he at least enjoys the sport and has fun doing it and isn't a gratuitously sardonic old dried-up hating **** like Merchant. :good

Rawling is a good call - terrible commentary.

On Warrren's YouTube channel Colin Hart and some other muppet give the [possibly retrospective] commentary and that is awful too.

Duke mckenzie was terrible. I dont understand how a very good fighter like him could be so terrible at calling fights. His commentry for chisors vs helanius was diabolical.

I actually like him for it
For me it was a nice change. I don´t get why some hate on him because he did MMA first :huh

I dislike the majority on HBO. From bias to disinterested and whatnot... they are bad in my view.

Probably because it seemed he wasn't a "real" boxing guy and wouldn't bring genuine passion for the sport, and got the job without having paid dues only because he was a recognized face on TV from having done MMA.

As it turns out, those fears - at least for me - have been quelled.

The guy may not have the most knowledge but he does seem to have displayed an earnest love of the game. So he's OK by me, even with the Cheese factor.
