Who is the WORST challenger for a world title in HISTORY?

    Except I never said "I have done a thorough survey of every fighter in history, and I conclude that Rick Thornberry WAS the worst title challenger in history", did I, you ****ing thick ****?

    Here was the opening post:


    "There should be many good suggestions for this..."

    "My own pick..."

    "Can anyone top this?"


    How does that prove I was saying that Thornberry WAS the only and ultimate choice for this?

    I saw the guy's record, and thought surely there can't have been anyone who got a title shot with a last 6 like this before.

    So, I presented it as my own pick, but said that there would be more good suggestions for sure, and invited people to try and top my pick by their own picks.

    yeah, so popkins is sayin that thornberry is 'undeserving based on his record', so whats your problem? i didn't see him say that thornberry was a terrible fighter, skill-wise?

    :lol: You've came in and said what I should've said hundreds of pages ago.

    Game, set, match.

    Nowhere did I say Thornberry was a bad fighter in the ring, I highlighted his record only, which I clearly could do through using boxrec.

    And now Ploys has admitted that it's A-OK to say someone was undeserving through using boxrec:

    he did exactly what i said he does





    1 - ducked answering any of your 14 points - fact :deal

    2 - changed the subject - fact :deal

    3 - went off on a tangent about something trivial - fact :deal








    this is possibly his pissiest ever debating, and further proves that popkins is the biggest ducker of questions esb has ever seen



    popkins is basically a full weight wanker with zero sense of humour.

    this technique is common place from popkins, he's used the ducking techniques in 3 other threads yesterday, so don't feel your on your own in this bewilderment of what a complete wanker he is - blackbrenny was laughing his tits off at him for the same thing not long back. the problem for popkins now is that i have completely worked him out and every single duck he does and every single alter-ego he uses - he is gonna get called out for it.

    1. Ali-Lewis was not for the title. Al Lewis was a good non-title opponent for Ali and gave him a good little fight.

    2. Tony Galento was considered to be the best opponent out there for Louis at the time. If you compare him to many modern title challengers, his weight wasn't even that bad.

    3. Holmes-Frazier was inexcusable.

    Michael Bentt has to be up there, the guy was 10-1 and had won nothing of note prior to his fight with Morrison, so essentially Morrison was cherrypicking a prospect at best.

    True, but in hindsight he wasn't THAT bad!

    Bentt was a perfect example of a boxer who did one thing well. In his case, it was pick apart an incoming opponent. Against a boxer who didn't come straight at him (and a glass jaw boxer at that) he was useless, which is why he looked so awful against Hide and got beaten up so badly he had to retire.

    - yet he managed to make Herbie Hide look world class.

    That said, he did a fine Sonny Liston impression in "Ali", suggesting that he did have more than one talent in life; unfortunately, he had only one talent in boxing.
