Who is the worst fighter that would give Ali trouble

Mitching doing a line before the fight would allow him to go to the distance with anyone.

 

The worst fighter in the 2000's that could give Ali trouble... probably Povetkin (although he's not a bad boxer, quite good actually just couldn't manage to win the big one). A stocky, well rounded guy with a good chin, good fundamentals, good body shots and combinations, and most importantly a very strong hook. He knew how to crouch and pressure guys. In other words, he had qualities similar to people that gave Ali problems such as Frazier, Bonavena, etc. I could see him winning many rounds and really pushing Ali (especially if he's having an off night or out of shape).

Byrd is another guy from that time frame who might annoy Ali with his cautious style and southpaw stance. Could end up similar to the Jimmy Young fight.

In the 90's, Ruddock might be able to keep Ali honest and on his toes. That would be an entertaining match up.

80's, a focused Pinklon Thomas or Tony Tucker could frustrate Ali with their jabs and athleticism. Maybe even Carl Williams given how much hell he gave Holmes. Weaver could also be an interesting wild card given his high stamina, bravery, and strength.

 

Any version of Greg Page after 1985 was past prime version. His skills had eroded big time when he fought Orlin Norris.
