I have practically every Ko and Ring magazine of the 90s and dont recall that. If thats true than we have a winner.

I doubt Buster Douglas made pound for pound top 10 lists. Mike might've been ranked near the top, but Douglas was a massive underdog. That one big win wouldn't have been enough to get into the top 10, not being anywhere near it before the fight.

My vote goes to Mijares simply because he was the highest ranked hype job I remember in recent memory

Wow, you saying the same things again but putting them in bold really convinced me.

Now I actually believe that Bradley fought Miguel Acosta, that Lamont Peterson is a world titlist and that Bradley/Campbell wasn't a no contest.

I'm still not entirely sure who you are actually calling Miguel Acosta btw. Miguel Vazquez?

Anyone who isn't mentioning a fighter from between 1990 to 1995 is full of ****.

Of the list posted above, Pinklon Thomas jumps out at me quite a bit.

Miguel Angel Gonzalez also sort of jumps out at me - made it on the list by running up a huge undefeated record, but his best wins were over Leavender Johnson and Marty Jakubowski.

In terms of time they were on the list, the 2006 version of Jose Luis Castillo was crap, yet he was still on there. IIRC, he was ranked #4 P4P at the time when Hatton beat him, but he was pretty clearly a shell of his former self.

Marty Jakubowski? His best wins were: Johnson, Lopez, Mendy. Then against boxers like D Tyson, Murphy etc. He also beat a 35 year old Chavez but the fight was scored a draw and held his own against a prime Oscar at 140 . He was the top lightweight for several years with 10 defenses and undefeated at the weight.

    Castillo never was #4 P4P.

If he wasn't #4, he was definitely top 10. He was #9 as of the end of the previous year, the draw between Taylor and Winky dropped both of them down IIRC, and Barrera lost. Either way, he was a crappy fighter at that point ranked in the top 10.

As for Gonzalez, it's not like Lopez, Mendy, Tyson, Murphy, etc. were any great shakes either. I'd say it's a level down from Timothy Bradley's current run of opponents, and the draw against faded Chavez didn't come until a few years later.

Then again, if we're talking purely on resume, then Khaosai Galaxy might be up there as well. He never really beat much of anyone. Like 3 opponents who held belts at one point or another, all of his fights at home, and like half his opponents retired or went on losing streaks after facing him. But the dude was a beast when you watched him.

The people saying Paul Williams is the worst are ****in idiots. He's far from the worst, I would say Kelly Pavlik is more of a candidate than Paul Williams.

Come on dude ive read your posts before and you should know better than to list Jakubowski as Gonzalez best victim. Gonzalez actually had a string of wins over some good fighters.

Hector Lopez one of the best contenders of the 90s to not win a title

Jean Baptiste Mendy(won title from Nazarov,Murphy and fought even with prime Stevie Johnston)

    Wilfredo Rocha ( undefeated banger)
    David Sample slick,speedy top contender
Lamar Murphy speed demon contender (controversial)
Darryl Tyson longtime contender still in his prime at the time
Kenny Bayesmore solid long time contender
Calvin Grove Former champion coming off ko over Fenech
    Leavander Johnson You mentioned him

All those guys far more accomplished than Jakubowski

Looks like Gonzalez had a much better resume than some of the guys in todays top 10 pfp.:yep

No doubt. Just go back to the Carbo era and guys like Billy Fox and you could probably find dozens worse p4p fighters on the list.
