WHo is the worst Ref? Who is the best?

Even though Cortez wasnt great that night, hes still good, at least until he has another off day. Nady lately has been ****ING AWFUL! So Nady gets my vote! NADY:happy NADY:happy NADY :happy NADY:bbb

The best: Smogerr, Vann

 

Smoger is def. the best. Nady and Steele are pretty bad.

 

Not really too on topic, but how much do refs get paid. And does whoever pays them pay the "better" refs more or does it go by each fight?

 

I actually used to like R. Steele. But anyway, Smoger and our very own Mickey Vann, they just seem to make less mistakes, you dont really notice them, and that is what makes a good ref

 

Why not have refs from neutral countries of the fighters.What other sport has the umpires or judges form the same country as the competitors.I'm sure Cortez is fine when he isn't reffing an American.

 

Tony Perez had some bad nights officiating fights and Richard Steele as well.
I think Carlos Padilla and Arthur Mercante are some of the best referees of all time. Mitch Halpern is another official that does not get enough credit for how he handles fights. Mills Lane is gone and will never be forgotten for the fights he handled.

 

Joe Cortez has sucked for awhile. Lawrence Cole is a lousy ref.

Steve Smoger is the best. Kenny Bayless is a good ref, although I thought he could've broken up the clinches a tad faster in the second Shane Mosley-Fernando Vargas fight.

 

Good reff: Kenny Bayless, Steve Smoger, Joe Cortez, Tony Weeks (very good)
Bad reffs: Jay Nady, Randy Neumann, Lawrence Cole

 

I don't like it when a referee warns a fighter for talking trash during a fight and then ignores it when that fighters tries to headbutt or elbow his opponent.

 

How can you say that Joe Cortez is a disgrace, then go on to praise Jay Nady (one of the worst current big time reffs). So you are saying that Jay Nady is good becuase he doesn't allow the Ruiz hug'n'tug, you mean the same kind of stuff that Cortez was warning Ricky Hatton about in the Floyd fight?atsch

How can you guys say Smoger is the best ref out there? From a fans point of view he lets fight unfold without any interruption, but he's always been very slow to stop fights, even when it seems like fighters have had enough. I think this automatically puts him near the top of the WORST lists. A referee is there to protect the fighters, not just make sure they don't foul each other.

 

Worst : Jay Nady easily the worst ref I have ever seen. Ever.

Best : Tony Weeks Professional, speaks english and spanish, extemely fair and unbias.

 

Raul Caiz is pretty good
Smoger is ok
Nady is gash as is cortez firm but fair my arse were not there to watch the ref give a tag line
