There isn't enough divisions in boxing, so they should also add age catagories into the mix, Vitali and Tony Thompson can fight between themselfs for a Northern Hemisphere Inter-continental metallic purple over 40s belt. If not the only other meaningful fight is Haye
Potvetkin...... likes his chances against Wlad, so that's not likely to happen. Helenius....... is going to need at least 6 months before he can start sparring again, and will likely look for a soft tuneup prior to his comeback. Chambers.........I suppose this would be a good fight for Vitali, that is if Chambers can beat a Harris or a Grant or another top 30 to maintain his marketability. Thomspon........ is geared up for his rematch with Wlad, but I'm sure he'd like his chances vs Vitali somewhat more. Dimitrenko........ surprisingly has an excellent resume. Maybe the best of the top 10 outside the K2. His wins over Blevel fighters like Basile, Hoffman, Krasniqui, Soz, Sprott, Rossy, combined with about 13 Clevel fighters really gives credibilty to his ranking. Aside from his near disaster vs Sprott, the guy has really built a superb resume. I think Vitali needs him on his own. Pulev....... should he beat Dimi, would obviously be a better win. Fury.....he just doesnt seem to have any kindof future. He's gonna be a consistently KOd fight against the Blevel. That fight wouldn't like help Vitali's legacy. Mitchell....while he is certainly one to watch when the K2 are gone, and likely the leading cantidate to take over, as a K2 fan, this is a fight Vito COULD lose. Boystov...does NOTHING for Vitalis resume. Add tot he list, Valuev. He needs money to begin his own politcal career, and at 38, he's nearly 3 yrs younger than Vitali. One quick tuneup vs a Julius Long , and 6 wks of sparring with a Pulev, and I think he would go for a 2 million $$$$ payday. He'd obviously bolster Vitalis resume the most. And of course Haye. BUT.....with another nice win of his won. BUT NOT CHISORA. Haye should petition the WBA to get a mandate with Potvetkin after next weeks fight. He would beat Sasha, and most know it. Potvetkin would likely vacate and then that would leave Haye vs Rahman for the fake strap. Haye by KO, then he could get his 50/50 or 55/45 with Vitali, being a beltholder. If I'm Vitali....I want Dimitrenko, then Valuev, then Haye. Then retirement just before my 42nd Bday.:deal
Considerable number I am sure, given that both fighters are not from US. However, I fail to see how americans alone represent the vast populace of planet earth. Saying people aren't knocking down doors to see them just because americans don't pay for their fights is just the kind of narcissistic bigotry that has america hated around the world. I do not watch either Ward or Hopkins, yet I do not claim that the world doesn't want to see them.
It would be nice if he fought a guy who was similar in height and had power and no glass chin. It really i time for Vitali to retire especially with his new shoulder injury,he should just retire now. Every time he is challenged he gets injured now. He's ancient for this sport. He did very well and he will get into the hall of fame but he should let it go.
It means **** all if it's on free TV. Fury/Chisora got 2.9 million viewers in the UK and neither of them were top 10 HW's or household names here. The Klits would get no viewers at £15 a pop or they would have gone PPV already.
What nonsense is this? Look at the top ten and he's only beat 2 guys. Pov, chambers, thompson, helenius, dimitrenko, boytsov, pulev. Plus there's the haye fight. Or midlevel comeback opponents such as chag or rahman. Or he could go for another prospect like fury. There's loads of guys to fight.
Are the likes of Dimitrenko, Chagaev and Chambers really worth the effort of tough 6 week training camp at Vitali's age? atleast with Adamek, Chisora, Haye there was/is intrigue but with these guys it's risk without reward while im sure he can still KO all of the mentioned opponents there's always the possibilty he could get injured in the ring and be forced to quit and at this point in his career he doesn't need any of that.
Haye, Povetkin, Fury, Dimitrenko, Helenius and maybe in a year or so.... David Price if the old fella's still around. I know he lacks experience, (Delboy doesn't have that much) but what about the olympic Bronze medalist Price. I already fancy him over Fury. He's sparred with the K bros and is just as big. He may not win at the moment but it'd be a good test for the old fella as Price has real pedigree with a similar work behind the jab style, but he seems to have more variety in his shots and we know he can bang a bit. World Champion in the waiting?????
