Supposedly not, but thx for the guess. I got this picture from an old book from the 40's. The author claims it is a rare pic of a boxer from the 1800's. Fought mostly gloved bouts as a heavyweight, despite his bareknuckle pose. In this pic he is supposedly in his late teens. I say supposedly because I am not myself convinced he is who the author claims he is. We'll see if anyone has seen this pic before. I had not.
Actually we'll can the guessing game and get to the fun part... the debate. According to John V. Grombach's 1949 tome "The Saga of The Fist", this is a 19 year old John L. Sullivan. I'll post a scan of the full page later to show that the identification is the author's and not mine. What do you think? Is it him? If so, is this the earliest promo photo of John L?
I think it could well be him This content is protected facially there's quite strong similarity. i think
Its said to be a young John L Sullivan its in one of my books at home so can't post a link, but its defiantly this picture
This is John L aged 52, he looks facially in structure similar to the young man in the picture, just old and more filled out, and the eyes are very very alike, I believe it is him [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwSitRrhQFQ&feature=related[/ame]
