A fight is already planned for June/July and he's training for it right now. The best opponent would be Dimitrenko, but that won't happen. Any available top 15 will be alright, hopefully it's someone who could punch. Brock would also be a good tune-up.

 I have avatars turned off, but cardstars showed me that before. ****, you have no idea how anxiously I'm awaiting a Povetkin-Klitschko fight. Not a day goes by when I don't think about Povetkin stopping him..

Thompson deserved the shot. He is waiting for one year to get it. He put away Luan Krasniqi on german card under the eyes of Krasniqi´s Promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl.

Povetkin did nothing you can compare with this. He only boxed in germany protected by his manager and his promoter.

    Thompson deserves the shot first.

Povetkin also boxed in his native Russia - against Larry Donald.

By the way a promoter cant protect a fighter in the ring. A close point decision is almost alwaysl probably be in favour of the promoter who stages a fight card. However,Povetkin hasnt had any protection up to now. Why? He doesnt need one. He has either stopped all his foes or won by wide point decision.
Therefore, get your facts right before you call Povetkin a protected fighter or claim that he has only fought in Germany so far!

Luan a better fighter than Byrd,Donald, and Chambers? I very much doubt it!

You're reacting like I said Thompson doesn't deserve a title shot and judging by your second comment, you have something against Povetkin. Beating a shot, unmotivated Krasniqi and a C level Timur Ibragimov doesn't compare to dominating Donald, Byrd, and Chambers. Povetkin is not "protected", he hasn't taken an easy route to the HW championship and he is the opposite of a protected Euro fighter. He wants the #1 HW in the world after just 15 fights, how often do you see that kind of toughness/confidence in a young fighter? If Povetkin's team wanted to generate a lot of money without taking risks they would still be putting him in against the Derrick Rossy's of the boxing world every other month in Europe.

Povetkin did more in 16 or 17 fights, than most, if not all Heavyweights I seen in a long time. Only Ike did the same or more in under 20 fights IMO. I think Povetkin does need more time to improve his craft, before taking on a tough challenge like Wlad, he's not going to outbox Waldo, but he can outwork him on the inside and try to keep a high workrate to try and tire Wlad out by the championship rounds. I see Povetkin taking a fight with Wlad by early 09, thats just hope hes ready.

I think they are planning on fighting Thompson, then Povetkin late this year.

If this is true, it seems that the Klit people want to get both of these mandatories requirements met one after the other, so the orgs won't have any excuse to strip him of either of the two belts he has.

Its a good priority to keep them titles unifed, cause its been so long to get even two of them together.

True, I just dont see Povetkin being ready come November or December, he needs another 2 fights to prepare him for whats to come, I think he should take on at least one more decent fighter, any news on who he might fight, before going against Wlad later this year?

I think if I hear another moron blather on about how David Haye will
K.O. Wlad when they finally meet I will hang myself. Haye is a
cruiserweight with a very bad defense, an even worse chin and
yes has good power FOR A CRUISERWEIGHT. When Wlad gets to
beaten on that overconfident, prettyboy windbag David Haye he will
squeal louder and more high pitched than the **** victim Ned Beatty
did in the movie Deliverance. The only difference is the metrosexual
Haye may actually enjoy the experience.

:rofl  Deliverance was a wild movie, that part still gives me the chills. I agree, the Haye hype train seems to going full steam on ESB, but both Haye and Wlad seem equally gay, the pictures with Wlad and his brother sword fighting naked, and a few other disgusting pics they took together doesnt bode to well for Wlad. I read somewhere that Wlad turned down a date with Julia Roberts on the set of Ocean's 11, sounds pretty gay to me.:yep

I think I'd agree that he needs another fight or two's worth of improvement and experience first, yes.

But that's a tricky situation, to take a tuneup/improvement/stay busy fight before your guaranteed titleshot. Cause as we've seen, you can lose your improvement fight, and then you may have lost your guaranteed titlefight.

I haven't read anything specifically on Povetkin's next opponent, but I think I recall reading where they may be taking on someone else before Wlad. But don't quote me on that, as I am not sure.

I think he does need a fight first, before Wlad, but they had better choose that opponent carefully, cause it may blow up in their face.

But then again, if a mandatory takes an voluntary stay busy fight, and if they happen to lose, do they lose their mandated titleshot?

To answer your last question, yes, I believe so. Mccall lost his right by taking a so-called tune up fight against Gomez last year, and lost, so it eliminated Mccall and now the winner of Gomez/Virchis will be the new number 1 contender.

I do think it's risky for Povetkin to take on voluntary at this stage, especially since he has an already guaranteed shot at Wlad. I just think a warm up fight would do him some good, as you said, they need to pick the oppenent carefully, I think a Williamson or a Whitaker would be good choices, it would help prepare him to an extent for a taller fighter, but a loss against either of these two guys would set him back a good bit, how about Audley?

Well, yeah. If they actually have pictures of the brothers sword fighting naked then the Klits have in the immortal words of Ricky
Ricardo to Lucy "some splainen to do". I mean that's just weird.

Audley sounds perfect for what Povetkin needs, yes. :good Tall, somewhat decent fighter, Wlad's size, not to mention that Audley has a strong a likelyhood to be KOed, and not much of an overall threat.

Yes, if I knew how to post pictures, I would post them. At first I thought they were pictures for a gay mag or something, but a poster told me they were for Hugo Boss or something, the pictures screamed gay.
