http://www.newsgram.com/indias-boxing-star-vijender-singh-enters-top-10-in-world-boxing-organisation-rankings/ It's the first time I've heard of an Indian pro boxer, let alone a top 10 rated boxer. Who is this guy? Is he any good? What's his potential?
He is better as an amateur than he is pro. His style, his strengths are more suited to ams. I can see him getting a world title if he's managed very well and takes easy fights, I don't see him going beyond that...but why does he NEED to be? Pro boxing is certainly not superior, ask N'Dam. He is extremely marketable in Asia, has been in Bollywood movies, well known in India and respected and a good looking guy who can speak English...they should just treat his career through this angle and get India hyped. Amir Khan wants to fight him. Good payday and will be HUGE in Asia.
He's not a very good professional but he is very marketable and personable and could win a political title (see Xiong Zhao Zhong). If you want a good pro from the area keep an eye on Muhammad Waseem, he's a ****stani sensation based in Korea,.
Isn't Vijender now fighting at 168? (If so, I'm not sure if its because he can no longer make 160, or because he can't be bothered to make 160.)
