Virchis' name has been mentioned in quite a lot of threads here on esb,but sorrowly a lot of our fellow American posters have never seen him fight. Therefore I decided to create this thread in order to provide some info about this very interesting heavy weight from the Klitschko's native country,Ukraine.
Virchis(23-1) is a huge heavy weight(6,4-1,93 cm) whose best weapon is without a doubt his murderous firepower. He can end a fight any time.
He is probably one of the biggest banger among the present heavy weights, and a threat to any rival including all present top guns.
He is a relatively slow fighter who tends to stalk and corner his foe in order to land one of his powerful punches. He has a quite leaky defence, but a decent chin.He for sure isnt the most skilled or fastest fighter out there, but due to his impressive firepower none of his of opponents has dared to duke it out with him so far.
His stamina is okay, but nothing special, and so is his jab.
He lost to Ruslan Chagaev by majority point decision-his only official loss.A lot of ring observers had him ahead on points against Chagaev after 11 very lame rounds and one exciting one.
Chagaev and Virchis are stable mates, and they also seem to be friends. Therefore they didnt go for each other for 11 rounds.
Virchis twice defeated Italian olympian medalist Paolo Vidoz(who stopped Calvin Brook, and Sam Peter at the olmypics)-the biggest and best known skalp in his collection.
He also beat decent fighters like Michael Sprott,Taras Bidenko(who gave hell to Valuev-in his 4th pro fight www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaigdKiO8Xc),Julius Francis,Balu Zaur, olympian Chaanoune, and Cliff Couser(who knocked out Monte Berrett a few days ago).
Virchis ' encounter with very promising heavy weight talent Taras Bidenko was one of the most exciting, entertaining ,and dramatic heavy weight fights which could be seen within the last couple of years.
Behind on points Virchis knocked his Ukranian compatriot out in the very last round of their encounter.

    Virchis vs Serin:www.youtube.com/watch?v=aO1XNtQo5Yc

Adnan Serin(17-6) is a German based journeyman who made the water quite hot for Danny Williams when they met in the ring.
He lost quite controversially to Konstantin Onofrei(who beat Wlad at the amateurs) and Rene Monse(who almost knocked Luan Krasniqui out a few years ago).

I dont think so,unitas! Ibragimov is a fast mover, and Virchis' nightmare is a mobile, skilled and capable opponent. Virchis needs a stationary target IMO.Of course he has pop in his fists ,and can surely end a fight any time.He has a puncher's chance against any present heavy weight, but styles make fights.Ibragimov has the wrong style for Virchis IMO. Virchis would probably murder stationary targets like Samil Sam,or Sam Peter, but Bidenko,Ibragimov,Byrd,or Gomez are the wrong foes for him.

Virchis is Valuev's possible next opponent.
He's a very strong guy who punches ridiculously hard. However he can be outboxed quite handily. He lost all but the 1st and 12th rounds to Bidenko who is a cruiseweight at best. He was also given a very debatable decision in his fight with Sprott, who was able to outbox him for the most part and even hurt Virchis in one of the closing rounds.

I agree. The only reason he won against Bidenko is because Bidenko is stupid and decided to trade with him. If Ibragimov decides to trade with him as well, then it would be good night. Ibragimov appears to be an intelegent fighter though, so I would go with him by a UD if such a fight happens.

Virchis offers little but a big punch, if a fghter is stupid enough to trade with him then he can win but i expect good top level boxers to pass him without too much probs.

A big puncher like him always has the ability to cause an upset though.

Peter is less skilled than Virchis and doesn't hit NEARLY as hard. Scam Cheater doesn't knock out anyone except by hitting behind the head. He hasn't knocked out 1 top 25 guy. Ever.

Virchis is probably the most overlooked fighter in the heavyweight division today

Virchis hits harder, but Peter is more skilled than the even slower Virchis

Virchis has a naturally huge chest, has a rock chin and is better than Peter anyday. Chagaev had a rock chin and would beat Peter also.
