I have seen plenty of Virchis' fights ,too.As I said he doesnt look good against fast movers, but he looks great against stationary targets.
He knocked out Serin in one round(Danny Williams,Konstantin Onofrei-who beat Wlad at the amateurs,or Monse-who almost knocked out Luan Krasniqui couldnt do that),he brutally took out Virchis(who beat Sprott,Timo Hoffman,Coc,and so on),he lost a mayority decision to Chagaev(most ring observers had him ahead on points against Chagaev),he defeated Algerian olympian Chaaoune as well as Julius Francis, impressively knocked out Balu Zaur, and so on.
IMO Virchis deserves a title shot, and a bit of nuthugging-hehe!
Of course I root for any fighter from neighbouring Ukraine.
Besides Virchis vs Bidenko was the most exciting, entertaining, and dramatic heavy weight fight I have seen within the last couple of years.
In the same league with Lyakhovich vs Brewster.
I cant say the same about Peter.I have never seen an outstanding fight with him.Admittingly, I havent seen all of his fights.

The love affair with Maskaev and Virchis by Eastern Europeans will end soon

It's all ethno-centric, if Maskaev and Virchis were Americans, they'd have much less of a fanbase.

Bah! It's all ethno-centric,if Peter and Toney were not American or American-based they'd have much less of a fanbase.Thats for sure!
If Peter were based in europe he would never have fought Toney or any other recognisable fighter.I guess that he would be more or less on Vidoz's level right now.
Due to the power of American tv and American promoters in the paid ranks it is still much easier for an American or American based African to reach the upper echelon of any weight division than it is for a Russian,Ukrainian,Belarussian,or any other non-westerner.
Luckily, the German box market is getting bigger and bigger so that fighters of countries of former soviet union can make a decent living there.

    You are wrong,brooklyn!

The love affiar with that limited and slow American based African Sam Peter by some Americans will end soon.
Old but still capable Oleg Maskaev will expose that overrated and overhyped African who had two very lame fights with that fat dwarf Toney who was barely able to beat American journeyman Batchelder in his last outing to a ring.
Dimitrenko stopped Batchelder in his last outing to a ring.
Damn! I dont get it why so many Americans are in love with Sam Peter.
Even Paolo Vidoz stopped him at the olympics and kicked him out of the tournament.
Vidoz would probably kick Sam's ass against at the pros. The African is totally overrated IMO.
