I'm guessing guys like Pac or Tito could probably easily fill out 1mil capacity stadiums in their homeland, provided tickets are affordable.

Thank for the responses but what I kinda wanted to know was is what fighter was the most popular in their homeland like was Pac-man more popular in the Philippines then Chavez was in Mexico.

I guess you could answer it by who could fill the biggest stadium in their country.

My guess would be Pac-man, Chavez, Tito, or Hatton.

I hope I made that clear.

Hatton is not in that league...He would fill out a a full stadium 70k but probably not much more than that. I honestly think guys like Tito or Pac would fill out a million capacity stadium if not more in their homeland. I heard people go to the cinema ffs to watch pac fight live when they have it free at home. lol.

I thinks thats about right, but Tyson and DLH must be in the running too.

The problem with this discussion is that most of these countries have very different population levels and also boxing publicity levels which have changed a lot over time between some of these fighters.

For example here in the UK when Bruno was around he was fighting on free to view primetime TV and domestic boxing had almost weekly TV coverage. Now it's pretty much subscriber only big fights shown and nowhere near the same press levels. I understand the situation is pretty similar in the States.

True. Thats why I'm not sure how much people Tito can draw at the gate. I mean Puerto Rico only has a pop. of 4 million, I don't know how many are in the states.

I would guess that Hatton can get more people at the gate. He did do 1.2 million on PPV.

And what is the largest crowd Tyson and DLH got? I know they get the big gates in terms of money but not sure how many people they can draw. My guess would be 25-35k.

So my guess for who can draw the largest gate in terms of people is Pac-man, Hatton/Bruno, or Chavez (who I think holds the record)

And another question I have been wanting to know if any of you know about mma. Is mma more popular in Canada and Japan then Boxing? The ufc has had 2 shows in Canada the first with GSP (the WW champ from Canada). The show was sold out in a matter of minutes with 21,390 tickets sold with a gate of 5.1 million. The 2nd did 21,451 tickets and 4.9 million gate. Also I know Japan has some big ratings when Kids fighting.

I know he could sell out a stadium in PR and I bet he was more popular in PR then Hatton in the UK in terms of the % of the pop. that would watch his fights (hope that made sense). Its just that UK has a much larger pop.
