I am from what is known as the 'old school'... sorry I mean ol' Skool (I got to be with it); in other words I am senile old ****er, who thinks a Wlad Klitschko is some kind of 15th Century Romanian emperor So who is/was boxing idol?
gotta go with DeLaHoya... nice guy can fight like no other an he represents the mexican community well
Do not patronise/mock Lopez is very much a very modern fighter. I am that ancient; Jem Mace would be conisdered a moderniser.
Just curious TBooze, where exactly do you rank Carpentier nowadays? I know he's moved a ways down from the rather unorthodox position of #4 that you used to have him at.
Finally someone is with the programme.... wait the senile dementia is clearing... you are mocking me Sweet Pea.... you wait until you too are no longer 'with it' then you too will understand Capentier's greatness.
Marvin Hagler. Saw an article of him in an newspaper(boxing is not really big in Scandinavia), and from then on - I studied him. Strike of luck(or the lack thereof), it turned out he was the "enemy" of my hated boxer, SRL, whom in turn had destroyed my fav danish fighter, Ayub Kalule, which I saw live when in 3rd grade. It was a good relationship, which surpassed my former admiration of Cassius Clay/Muhammed Ali.
I have always been a big fan of Evander 'the Real Deal' Holyfield. I see James Corbett is on the list, so if we're talking about fighters of a time before we were nowhere near to being born then I would say Harry Greb. Shocking! I have never been gifted with the chance to see him fight but his story is a captivating one and the stories I've heard about him made me a fan of his. I've always put alot of stock into my favorite fighters, but it changes every once in a while (just like bands and food).
