Top 15 lists are tough. Once you get past the obvious greats like Ali, Louis etc. it's hard to put the rest in an order. I always have trouble seperating Foreman, Frazier, Lewis, Dempsey, Johnson near the bottom of my top ten atsch
Are you referring to when they sparred as teens? Everything I've read about it says that Tyson brutalized him. Lewis also said he was scared of the young Tyson, saying he was an animal.
Head to head comparisons and general greatness with a strong (percieved) bias against fighters from long ago eras
And on head to head you think you can justify putting Foreman ahead of Ali? I am of for the weekend China_Hand_Joe, do take it easy now.
On a purely head to head basis, under modern rules. 1. Ali 2. Louis 3. Frazier 4. Lewis 5. Holmes 6. Tyson 7. Foreman 8. Liston 9. Bowe 10. Holyfield 11. Wladimir Klitschko 12. Marciano 13. Vitali Klitschko 14. Patterson 15. Dempsey My list is pretty unorthodox, but it's real. I'm not trolling like some other people, so feel free to ask for justification if you want.
Yep, that's why Ali and Louis are a step above him. Because of the circumstances (quick stoppage and the other one at age 35 when most of the ATG's were retired or losing) plus avenging both losses and having more depth than anyone outside of Ali and Louis puts him at #3 for me.
