The two best refs in the game as far as I'm concerned.

 

cotto was clearly aware of everything going on. every time bayless wanted to stop the fight that son of a ***** cotto threw punches. too tough for his own good. and that was no corner cotto had. that was just his homboys, and family being a cheer leaders sending their boy out for more punishment each round. that cotto corner reminded me of the movie jackass where they just watch cotto go out their and do crazy stunts and hurt himself.

You're right. That was the worst corner in a big time fight I think I've ever seen. At least until someone reminds me of a worse one. And unless the interpreter for HBO sucked (I don't speak Spanish). But from what I got of the interpreter it was pretty much just "You're smarter than he is. If you don't die, you get a lollipop." etc.

 

I'm pretty sure at one point, His corner told him "Miguel, The meter is paid up til 1. Stretch it out a little more so we get our moneys worth."

 

"Anything in particular about the fight itself?"
"Uh, not really. He's pretty fast. Want a hug?"

 

Steve smoger won't ever stop a fight too early... that makes him the best. He is a throwback ref.
