the guy is a straight shooter. i disagree with some of his analysis but i respect his opinions cause they come from what he believes to be true, not what he wants me to believe to be true.
I dunno you know,I was a big fan of his and still am but he does have some double standards like slating Povetkin for PEDs(no problem with that)whilst giving Canelo a pass for testing positive so much so that he was accused by some of being a shill for GB lol. I don’t believe that by the way.
Fed up of all these so called 'Boxing Journalists' on youtube who are actually promoting their opinions, rather than just asking the questions, and letting viewers form their own opinions. The second you know the journalists opinion on a piece of news they're simply meant to be portraying to viewers, their work becomes unreliable. IFL get a lot of stick for only covering UK fighters.....Which is illogical as they're a UK company. Any time one of their cameramen get a question asked to them about their opinion, they generally reply with something like "It's not important/The viewers don't care about my thoughts". You will never know a good journalists opinion on the news they're convering. That's where Rafael annoys me at times. He does an interview.....Then states his own opinion on the subject the question was all about. A Pundit and a Journalist are two different things. An 'Experienced Journalist' isn't a Pundit.....They're an 'Experienced Journalist'.
The only problem with bringing up the IFL channel is Kugan used to be on Eddie's payroll when he first set up IFL London.... being paid by the person you interview is not a great sign on neutrality either. Now I know he's not paid anymore but the line was crossed. I like the channel and he also interviews Warren etc but there's always a feeling his loyalty lies with Matchroom....
I've never heard him offer an opinion on the questions he asks. He always asks about the Joshua/Wilder fight. He always asks about the $15,000,000 and $50,000,000 offers. He asked in his latest interview whether no percentage offer was fair. That's completely different to that moron on ThaBoxingVoice who asked, "Why are you ducking Wilder"?...... Then, weeks later, when Eddie is offering his more interviews, I feel like i'm watching a video of him rimming Eddie Hearn. You've just stated yourself that the reason you are unsure on IFL is because of information you have obtained outside of their interviews. There isn't a single 'Neutral' Journalist, it's impossible.
No it was information gathered from one of Kugan's interviews with Eddie. Hearn said it himself.... used to pay him £300 per week...
a friend of mine, the late jack dunne. we used to talk boxing a lot. he was the one who was able to get me a ticket to jones-tarver 2. wife and i were in vegas that week end for our anniversary. him- "you know who is fighting there that week end? i can get you a ticket!" wife was VERY cool. she knew it was a once in a life time chance o see a super fight like that live.
Today: Rumsfeld. The rest of the lot are mostly garbage with better equipment, assistants and money. Past: Jim Murray of the LA Times. What he wrote about boxing was pure and at times hilarious. He covered a multitude of other sports so he wrote mostly about the big fights and big names like Louis, Marciano, Moore, Ali, SRL, Hagler, Don King. But he also wrote about the state of boxing.
