Perhaps he could, Pavlik isn't in the Oliver McCall class of chin - and BHop can punch......

I see Hopkins winning a closeish but clear UD, sweeping the earlier rounds and losing the latter ones.

Who's going to be favourite out of Hopkins/Pavlik I wonder. My monies on Hopkins.

Outside chance I think. He had enough to stun Joe, but I think he'd have to put a few more shots together for it to happen, I can't see potshotting knocking him out, even though his chin is somewhat questionable still

I don't know what weight its at, but its going to be at least 168, and Hopkins has put on efficient muscle mass with that Shilstone guy over a period of time. He's a big guy and has more weight on his punches than Pavlik is accustomed to

You could argue Miranda, but his offence is so sloppy as to be uneffective, Hopkins will land clean

I wouldn't put the chances at any more than 10%.

The fanboys on the main forum will be picking Pavlik by KO & all sorts of nonsense. The bookies will have it pretty even because of Hopkins' age.

pavlik v hopkins is a intresting fight - cos it's dynamite fist young un v the rock solid old timer - can Pavlik KO Hopkins is the real question?

No chance. Hopkins is difficult to hit flush plus he has one of the best chins in boxing so even if Pavlik lands clean he'll take it & be smart enough not to get hit with the same shot again.

I would say Calzaghe has a better beard than Pavlik - but Pavlik won't be KO'd IMO.

The fanboys have already started, first round KO, a schooling etc etc

    A couple of points:

    1. Pavlik can punch, but Hopkins has an iron chin
    2. Pavlik is one-dimensional, and will be up against the most awkward, crafty ******* to set foot inside a ring in a long time

    Oh, and 3

    Hopkins will win, UD

I'm not as impressed with Pavlik as some of the muppets on the General Forum but I think he may well have style to stop Hopkins late, thats were my money will be going.

Just replying as I am reading through the thread.

Anyway I can't wait for Pavlik V Hopkins. There seems to be a lot of negative reaction over in the other forum, and many of them would rather see him face Williams. Even though they are trying to hide it I sense the Pavlik nuthuggers getting a bit nervy about this one.

Based on what? He's pretty much a one-two man who managed a few uppercuts on the hapless Lockett. Taylor did a lot better with Pavlik in the second fight & Hopkins is much harder to hit than Taylor. A one-two man does not stop Hopkins.

    Paul Williams.

Those lot on the general forum slay me. Young Hopkins would stop Pavlik but this Hopkins outworks him early & wins a comfortable UD.

Why? Purely sustained pressure on a 43 year old man from a heavy handed younger man.
