Many guys have their best wins over smaller guys, you are bound to look better dismantling a guy naturally half a stone lighter than trying to dismantle a guy have a stone heavier

Hopkins handled the 40-0 Felix Trinidad in his younger days with ease. They have a similar upright, big punching style other than Tito likes to hook, wheras Kelly prefers the overhand right.

Kelly is however about 3" taller and has about 4" reach advantage and his punch output is a lot higher. Hopkins has the weight advantage, in the fact he's had 3 fights and a couple of years to adjust, wheras Kelly will not be bulking up too much for this.

I see Hopkins giving a great display and a lot of trouble to Kelly inside the first 6 rounds before defending and back-peddaling his way to a points loss.

It wouldn't suprise me to see him sustain an 'injury' to blag his way out of the fight during an interval either.

Pavlik won't hit him with a bag of rice nevermind knock him out, this is just common sense and basic knowledge of the sport

You've got a crafty defensive counterpuncher, that circles the jab perfectly old school style, with a GREAT defence

Against a basic techincal pressure fighter, who relies on his jab to setup his offence and throws predictable straight punches, with no real speed

You really have to have one punch power, as well as a good left hook or uppercut to have any chance of stopping Hopkins. You ain't gonna knock him out by beating his arms to death with 1-2 ABC's. Come on.

I totally agree - don't post that on the general forum though, there is a lot of love for Pavlik on there. He is an ATG already, and would school Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Duran and Robinson.

All at the same time :deal

I think hopkins may handle pavlik like he did with winky because he'll be the naturally bigger guy and maybe able to bully pavlik into a scrappy fight which will suit hopkins down to the ground.

I'll be picking Pavlik SD/UD in the prediction league mind. Not that he'll legimiately win, but I know what these ****in yank judges are like. It's gonna be real easy to score it for Pavlik, he's the golden boy at the moment, whereas Hopkins is on a bit of a downwards curve

I see no way Pavlik stops Hopkins.

Hopkins is ****ing horrible to fight, simple as that.

Pavlik will struggle to land more than one punch at a time, let alone put some punches together to KO Hopkins.

Look how short and slappy Calzaghe had to throw his punches in an attempt to land. I'm not sure Pavlik is capable of adjusting to ensure he lands.

People are building Pavlik up way too much, on the basis of the Lockett fight

Not me mate, check my posts on Pavlik. He's very overrated by the Yanks on the back of just 3 wins against 2 fighters, neither of whom is as great as some people make out either (if you get my drift). I just think this is a bad fight for Hopkins style-wise, Pavlik has many shortcomings but he's young, of comparable size, a stiff puncher and will be able to maintain effective pressure on Hopkins.

Gaz, I'd like to change that avatar of yours, I've got a special one lined up for you

How about a Hopkins does/doesn't get knocked out bet since you are confident enough to bet the cash you earned so hard working the streets :yep

I agree with you - Taylor is decent but was (pardon the pun) tailor made for Pavlik as much as Tszyu was for Hatton, perhaps even more so.

He can bang, but some of his opponents have been KTFO a few times previously. It is not as if he has stopped guys in the league of Oliver McCall, Antonio Margarito and Wayne McCullough chinwise.
